i845 chipsets don't OC that well... You'd need a i865 to be going somewhere. ASUS is decent but taht doesn't mean they all OC well ;)

Yeah, it does depend on the Chipset and CPU. My mobo is oviously different, but just for info I can easily overclock the CPU by 10% with no extra cooling, but it mostly depends on how far your CPU can go. ASUS has been good for me - my board was cheap and does everything that I want without any real problems.

i have been bumping the cpu clock up over the last couple of days and now have it the max of 3ghz from 2.4ghz all the temps are good according to asus probe and the vcore voltage is stable at 1.41 volts from 1.3 volts, i have been playing bf2 and then checking the temps and there is no significant change temp.plus i have 120mm fan bolted on the tower blowing directly onto the cpu and mobo.
cpu temp 42*C...mobo temp 32*C /35*C after playing BF2.
thanks for the replyies guys

2.4GHz to 3GHz? That is quite a large increase without any extra cooling. You should run Prime 95 for a few hours to check stability:
http://files.extremeoverclocking.com/file.php?f=103 is the link.
To use it Options, Torture Test, and then I tend to use the second option. Normally 4 hours will show any problems, but its recommended you use it for up to 24. Keep an eye on your temps when using it.
