I'd would have liked to see more configurations, but I guess in reality most people are going to hit up an X38 board with two PCIe slots, so having three or four 3850/3870's won't be a common scenario.

I'm planning on getting just a single X2 to start with, that way I can wait for improved drivers and better game support. When I finally get that 30" LCD I'll purchase another one if they haven't released a 4870X2 by then.

I'd wait until it drops in price and you've got the most out of your 2900 Pro. That's still a bloody decent card, surprised you haven't flashed it to an XT. ;)

im surprised i havn't yet either ;) , but atm im deciding if i want to crossfire 2 2900's or save up for the 3870x2, but im guessing that once nvidia gets there dual core gpu out that ati will cut prices on their's, or at least i can hope

Supposedly in two or three short months the HD3XXX series will be replaced by R700. There is always something new around the corner.

that is true, but im really hesitant to get rid of a card that has been so good to me, although that card is tempting me

of course all the games that scale up with more than two gpus are quite happy playing with just one card.. the one game that needs more than two gpus dosnt scale..

2006 and 2005 wont scale without a super cpu that dosnt exsist..

all in all real life benefits = zilch..
