right now im kinda working on getting 2 2900 pros in crossfire running, but then it kinda dawned on me, a new 2900 pro is about a little over a third of the price of the 3870x2, so now im considering saving up for that beast of a card, but idk if its worth its price tag, i kinda made this promise to my self to never pay over 300 for a graphics card, but this is tempting my will power, so i am asking for those that have one or not is it worth it? also if i did go the 3870x2 route would i need a new psu or would mein be able to handle it?

Your PSU should be fine, but I would say it is not worth it for your monitor size (other than for running Cryisis on higher settings). If your having performance issues (or cant crank up the settings) with your 2900, then yeah, get the second one and save some cash. On the other hand, if plan on going a bigger resolution, the x2 might save you some trouble down the road (but perhaps by then, new GFX models will be out anyway).

with the very recently announced single card 3870 discounts you can bet the x2 version will be soon to follow, I would personally would either wait for the x2 discounts of buy 2 single 3870's.

ya im planning on running either two monitors one one much bigger one down the road, as to what jock said im thinking there may be a price drop once the 9800's hit let alon there verion of the x2, but wouldn't two 2900's out perform 2 3870's in crossfire -heat and power consumption
