Once again, Josh at PenStar Systems (http://www.penstarsys.com/index.html) has put his fingers to the keyboard to enlighten us some more about what might be making the soon to be released Crossfire product look so gloomy. This time around, he explains that it is most likely the compositing chip holding the Crossfire back. He feels that ATI likely had to make “compromises” with the frame buffers to get things to work and that the design “limits users to the undesirable resolutions and refresh rates that we are currently seeing on CrossFire setups.” He also points out that there is a solution to all of ATI’s woes which would involve ATI producing it’s own compositing engine featuring 10 MB of E-DRAM.
