so i got my q6600 to do 3.4 but at the cost of load temps at 73c. it wouldnt do 3.3 so i lowered the multi and set the fsb to 1700 raised the voltage alittle on everything, and it booted. the core is at 1.43 and it idles at 50c. do you think theses temps are dangerous?

73 C, yeah I think it's bad. 50 C, as long as you're not constantly at full load, it's fine, but 50 C shouldn't be a problem at any time, I just like my comp to run as cool as possible cause it needs to last.

Well, to really answer the question, we need more info. Is your Q6600 a GO or B3? What software are you using for temps? 73 is high but not dangerous if we are talking core temperatures. If that is your cpu temp, you are getting close, as it would make the cores somewhere b/t 83-88c  If your cpu is a B3, I highly recommend good TIM and a beefier cooler than the Zalman.

Something doesn't seem right with your temps. Usually there is a good 10-15c between cpu and core temps. You should run coretemp and see how it compares with everest. If your cores are hitting 73c max you are doing "ok", but not great, especially on only 1.43v. Like I said before, you may want a beefier cooler, and some AC MX-2. Also look at airflow in your case..

How much or little TIM did you use?

Same thing happend to my everest and my core temps, a restart fixed it and never did it again.
i thought 83C was kinda high when idling.
