I'm getting a 9600GT on wednesday, and if the cooler is anything like the stock cooler on the 8800GT, then I'm going to replace it. Anyone know which coolers will definately work with the 9600GT?

Anything that fits 8800GS, GT, GTS 512MB or the 7900 series fits on 9600GT.

If you were smart you would have bought an MSI 9600GT. Those cards have WAY better cooling and the cards are not expensive.
In fact, in my country the MSI 9600GT OC cards are the cheapest you can find.

Not sure how to take the "If you were smart" comment, but the MSI 9600GT's currently available in the US have the reference cooler. The "seeweed" cooler version is not available. So it has nothing to do with intelligence, it's about availability...:slap:

The VF 900-Cu ( with LED or not ) could be a serious alternative cooler for the 9600 GT, cheaper than VF-1000 which is intended for high end cards.

hehe i've been eyeing these for quite a while:
$40+shipping,maybe the yare overrated?Iunno but it certainly looks good (http://www.evga.com/products/moreinfo.asp?pn=202-F2-EV03-A1)
Or maybe pick one of these

Arctic Cooling Accelero S1 with the Turbo Module is my personal favorite Air Cooler for the G92. it's a mediocre cooler on some older Models but for the G92 it's very underrated and behind the scenes ive seen it out perform the Thermalright and Zalman.

hmm...the combo seems promising...and cheap too

28 Celsius drop...WOW
Too bad the S1 is sold out at Newegg. Accelero S2 is $17 bucks on there, but the thing looks smalelr than the S1. The Turbo Modules cost $8,so that's $25,then add $6.70 for combined shipping. Only comes up to $32 shipped. Not bad at all. Now I'm jsut worried if the S2 is much inferior to S1...
PS:S1 is expected to come back on stock on the 27th of this month. It will be $24. Add that to the turbo modules and you get $32 dollars. Now add $6.70 combined shipping and you get...$38.70 Dollars. still decent price. here's another review.

Stock at load is 66C, with S1 and module it decreases by 16C...

I agree, I bought a ECS 8800GT with the Accelero on it and it is very nice (but is about 2" taller than the card)
My temps are in the 40s.

Since the 9600 GT runs cooler I would imagine its even better. One other thing I like is how the fins run (from front to back) to aid in airflow.

the VF-700 cooles my 8800GS just fine and lets me OC it, so it should work the 9600 also
