Yes it can and also the X800PRO 16 pipes BIOS will work. My advice is to start with X800PRO 16 pipes BIOS and to try the max. core/memory overclock with 16 pipes. After that to decide X800XT or X800XT PE BIOS to flash. Think about better cooling - something like ATI Silencer 5 ;) .

Okay i've used the automated flashed utitlity to flash to x800 pro 16 bios, the flashing was done successfully and i've reinstalled the drivers but still the number of active pipelines in Atitool shown are 12 instead of 16 :confused:
So what do i do know ??

BTW i'm using catalyst 6.9 drivers

Edit: Ok nevermind, i used the modified flashrom to flash 16P x800 pro bios as mentioned in w1zzard's guide and now i have unlocked the 4 additional pipes :toast:

Try to connect the bridge but you have to know that the chance is less than 0.1% ;) .

Ah well...kinda what I thought.
Guess I'll just clock it a bit higher and be happy. Even though I run it at XT PE speeds, this card still has about 20mhz of headroom in both core/memory before it starts to artifact.

Your card will also unlock to 16 pipes but please specify AGP or PCI-E is your card, also if it is AGP what is the colour of the board (red or blue). Test your max overclock for the core/memory with ATITool and post the result. R480 should go to minimum 500MHz.

I want to know if I can get the 4 pipelines in my connect3d x800gto (pcie; 256/256) card.The thing is that I flashed the bios once, it works but with problems: even if in 3dmarks (03-05-06) I get better scores, in reality in NFS-most wanted amd NFS-Carbon have errors: my PC is freezeing and I need to reset the Motherf**.I also have had problems with other games as well.So i put back the original bios and starting to search on the internet a better (the working mod bios)
I don`t have a external suply if that`s matter and I have no ideea wtf is with that low frequencies.Can anybody help me? with a mod bios, or some advice ??

I used to have X800XT flashed to PE. After changing the cooler with ATI Silencer 4 rev.2 (it was the only proper cooler at that time) and slight voltmod for the memory I have adjust the X800XT to X850XT PE speeds. To be honest it is even better than the X850XT PE in some cases (I currently have X850XT PE AGP).

The answer of your question is YES you can clock it to X850XT PE speeds and even higher.

Well i got 5050 pts in 3DMark with my 16 pipes Sapphire X800 GTO 256MB, the temperature is a problem with this video card, but i discovered that the fan just works at 50% most of the time. Btw this cooler is a piece of ****. So i'm using ATITools just to get it at 100% and stabilized the temp at 46~55°C at windows and 70°~80°C when playing.

Tryed overclock but with this cooler is almost impossible to get something expressive.

Disappointed with the cooler.

It doesn't have an external power connector.

About the "tighter RAM timings" I have no idea but probably it is predicted for 2.0ns like your original. (You should be with 2.0ns). It is normal to have limited overclock after unlocking to 16 pipes. You can see the back side of the PCB and the missing MOSFETs from the core power supply circuit, lack of external power supply (everything is supplied through PCI-E slot). All these factors could limit your overclock.

With that card you can try the X850XT BIOS just to see how the card will perform compared to GTO. X850 has usually 1.6ns memory and it is intresting how it will influence over your memory overclock.

I don't think the HSF is as good as the X850XT's either. This could also affect the overclocks, but really, I'm happy with the core clocks. Just wished memory could overclock further, just because I've seen mine overclock further. Not because I've seen someone else's card clock further.

Unfortunately you will stuck to 8 pipes. But you should have chance for great overclock. OC it to the max. and fix the clocks 10-15 MHz lower for the core and 15-20MHz for the memory in custom BIOS and flash your card with it ;) .

I also installed the Zalman 900 series cooler and temps are:

Find the max. core/memory with 16 pipes and the Zalmann and post them there. Also I need to know howyour card is recognized after the flashing of the OC BIOS. I can add (to the flash utility) also 540/590MHz BIOS which should bring you almost the same performance like X850XT PE.

well it is recognized as an x800gto
ran the atitool mem test and it crashed at 586 and the core dropped to 517

I tried running the flashed card on vista rc2 and it would reboot my system running the aero performance test

I also tried flashing back to original from the boot cd and it stayed at 16 pipes 520/540.. but
then i could run the aero test on vista... bizarre

i reinstalled catalyst 6.10 drivers but I didnt renstall the ati tool

The chance is not fantastic but with these Config Substrate: "0xFFFFFF1E" probably something could happen. I would recommend to try connecting the bridge. If you done it please post again the fuses.

Of course if the ID's are moded your card could appear also like "Father Christmas" but the performance should be almost equal. The card has core power supply predicted for 12 pipes (only 3 MOSFETS) and probably some limits comming from the Realto max. frequency. If your card is stable at 520/540MHz just use OC2 BIOS with these speeds and be happy. If the card could go higher - OC it additionally with RivaTuner, ATITool or something else.

Just test it. The good "old" news for X800PRO VIVO AGP is that they didn't have locked quads on hardware level (just BIOS) and 100% can be unlocked to 16 pipes. The reason for the locking could be bad memory which couldn't reach the XT or XT PE level, core which can't reach 520MHz and more or bad pipe quad (it happens in 5% of the cases or something like that). The same is equal for X850PRO VIVO AGP but the success rate of unlocking is app. 80%.

Absolutelly right in 99.9% of the cases no change in the DIE fuses. But there is one case (I can't find it in the forum) in which the connection of both bridges resulted in DIE fuse change (it deppends on a bottom side bridge configuration). At present you dont need to flash or if you want flash X850XT or X850XT PE BIOS and the result will be X850XT / PE but with 12 pipes (be carefull with the fan with single slot cooler).

just found the case you mentioned. He "reanimated" 3 (!) cards by bridging the lasercut. But all of them had an E instead of my 7 in their die fuses.
Do I get a performance-gain by using a X850XT-PE bios?

You can't find full descripton because it doesn't exists ;) . Partly the meaning of fuse descripton you can find in the fuse thread but you should read many many pages.

But to make the long story short:

CONFIG_ROM_FUSES - show how many pipes are opened (BIOS setting and could be changed)

GB_PIPE_SELECT - show which exactly quads are opened (but the values are result based on the DIE, CONFIG_SUBSTRATE and GB_PIPE_SELECT fuses values)

DIE and CONFIG_SUBSTRATE FUSES are hardware based values (they couldn't be changed in most cases)

If the DIE/CONFIG_SUBSTRATE fuses are "not proper" you can't change the pipe number with BIOS flashing because the limitation is on hardware level ;) .

X800GTO Palit Daytona - AGP or PCI-E?

If PCI-E probably it won't unlock. About X1600PRO it has SM3.0 but 128bit memory interface. With this the advantage of the X1600PRO is over. If you don't desperately need SM3.0 it is better to choose the GTO (but it is my opinion and probably I am not right). Let the owners of the X1600PRO to tell you how it perform compared with X800GTO (with 12pipes and default clocks) in 3DMark03/05 for instance.

You can accept that "probably" for 99.9% sure because only Sapphire has such cards which can be unlocked.
You could be lucky to get unlockble card and I wish you good luck.

Congratulations you can unlock that card to 16 pipes. I will attach two X800XT PCI-E BIOS without VIVO. Flash with one of them (or thes both starting with that: sx800xt.bin) in DOS mode using atiflash and the following command line:

atiflash -f -p -newbios 0 sx800xt.bin (sapphire BIOS newer)

or

atiflash -f -p -newbios 0 ax800xt.bin (ATI BIOS older)

After unlockinh and testing of the card with ATITool for max. core/memory come back here with the results and I can offer you a BIOS which can "convert" your card to X850XT or X850XT PE with the same X850 Series Overdrive and some % performance more.

But please look at the memory chips and tell me 2.0 or 1.6ns are they?

Reinstall the drivers after the flash. And yes it is R423.

It will continue to be recognized like X800GTO but unlocked to 16 pipes. If you use one of the OC BIOSes it will be recognized like X800GTO with R480 (proper one) and probably it will bring you even more performance.

Here you are 16 pipe BIOS. When flash use DOS mode and the following command line:

atiflash -f -p -newbios 0 a800xl16.bin

As I predict (unfortunately) that core can't be unlocked to 16 pipes. You should live with that. Try to overclock the card but don't expect miracles because it should be R430. If you succeed to reach near 500MH for the core then come back here with the result.

I have DDR 2.8ns form Hynix 350MHz on my second PC and 9800XT 128MB and can say that this memory is perfect because I can overclock it up to 400MHz stable. I can't say the same thing for 2 cards with 1.6ns GDDR3 memory (X800XT and X850PRO VIVO AGP). On both cards it wa necessary to voldmod the memory to go close to the rated 600MHz. The 2.0ns seems to be beter overclocker.

I have better proposal for you about that card. You can unlock it and also can transform it to X800XT or X850XT or X850XT PE deppending on the overclock.
Here you are my automated flash utility which contains 5 BIOSes: C3X800GTO; C3X800GTO 16 pipe; X800XT; special moded BIOSes which will make your card to be recognized like X850XT or PE with "X850 type" Overdrive function (the tab will appear after the driver re-installation). The performance should be higher with when the card is recognized like X850.

i would suggest flashing back to your old bios then.... also, how did you check whether your card is unlockable or not? the screenie you posted doesn´t help that much here, bc it does not show the fuses data...

I'm sorry, I'm new to this. Actually funny thing. I did flash it to the old Bios but my rez wouldn't do 1440x900 (like i said) and now I just flashed it back to the X850XT bios and it works now. Still no 16 pipelines though....Where can I find that fuse info though? Thanks

hmm, i compared your fuses to those in the "X800 unlocking"-article (to be found here (http://www.techpowerup.com/articles/overclocking/vidcard/127)).... looks like your card will stay at 12pipes :cry:

my rez wouldn't do 1440x900

did you reinstall the graphics drivers after flashing? this usually helps...

another drawback too is that its temp went up to 70-75

:eek: 70°C idle is VERY hot... are you on stock cooling? you should definately check if your gpu fan is still spinning (sounds weird, but i have already had a non-suitable bios on my card, which resulted in the fan not spinning anymore....)

No my fan still works...I just turned it up to 100% to cool it off. I just played a game for about 45 mintues...when I stopped the temp was at 90. It's cooling off now down to 50. My fan works. Looks like I'll just have to buy the ATI Silencer thing. But one more thing...even though I can't unlock 16 pipes...do I still get good performance if I rise the core and mem? I was just playing Tomb Raider Legend and I can run it on high even with full-screen AA. (except next-gen graphics, it won't let me) And it ran with pretty much no lag. I dunno. I fixed my rez by chaning the X850pro bios to the X850XT bios. So I'm happy. All I need to do now is keep the temp down. Also, let's say I was to put the core and mem at full blast. As long as I could keep the card cool enough would it be fine? Or is there more to it then just temp? Thanks.

I just checked my log and during gameplay it reached 100.3 and bounced between that and 90. When I am done playing a game I usually turn the fan up to 100% to cool it off then once it's down (right now 44, which is I think as low as it's going ot get) I use Dynamic Cooling with ATITool. Also, is it bad for your fan to be running on 100% for a certain amount of time?

ok, 44 idle calms me down a little bit, but at 100°C load your card won´t last that long; i suggest setting the fan speed at 100% all the time in ATITool(won´t do any harm to the fan even in the long term).... if you´re thinking about getting an aftermarket cooler i strongly recommend the Arctic Cooling ATISilencer (got it on my card, load temp never exceeds 65°C at clock speeds of 550/550).

and yes, higher clock speeds will give your more performance... try doing some 3DMark05 runs at different clock speeds. but again, you should take care of your temperatures (anything above 70°C is NOT good) to prolong your card´s life....

Not to be a bother but I have my fan running at 100% and my temp stays in the 40s at idle...when I play a game it goes to about 60-65...now this is only after a few minutes of gameplay. I assume 60-65 is ok when running games?

Probably you realy have R430 but if it is R480 than - good overclock. Unfortunately no more pipes. Try to find the max. core with ATITool. If you can't pass over 450MHz = R430 if you reach 500MHz and more = R480 (in this case is good to fine adjust the BIOS for greater performance).

It is only possible on 128MB X800 with DDR memory - now is clear. You can't unlock but try the overclock.

This is R480 and you can't see any cuts. But they are there (on the back side of the core).

Your card will unlock to 16 pipes. But with that overclock the core is R430 not R480. With R480 the core overclock should be much higher (500 plus MHz). Post your BIOS if you want "your" pipes ;) .

As you can see the 16 pipelines are OK, and I was mistaken, its a 430 and not a 423.

Seems also that there is no additional power connector on my card...

I found the original bios from my card..its attached (as a txt file, when it wouldnt upload as a .rom file)

Using TRIXX sw I only reach
Core: 433,25 and Memory: 550,25

Here you are 16 pipe BIOS. Flash it in DOS mode using atiflash and the following command line:

atiflash -f -p -newbios 0 bios16.bin

When i type the command i've got message in french " Echec général écriture sur lecteur A ..." and in translated "failure general writing on reader A"
The bios is not flashed.

I also have the 2.0 samsung memory, so i know to use the 2.0 bios.
Can i follow your instructions and have no problems since it's for X800gto to X850 xt.?

It is unlockable to 16 pipes :D . And I would suggest you to unlock it because it deserves it ;) . You have to follow the steps below and to don't worry:

1. Save your original BIOS (with ATITool)
2. Open the last 4 pipes using my automated bootable flash CD for X850PRO VIVO AGP and X850PRO 16 pipe BIOS (download it from here: http://savefile.com/projects/670063)
3. Probably you have to re-install the drivers after the flash with X850PRO 16 pipe BIOS)
4. With 16 pipes find max. core / memory using ATITool (you can check the option "use old and more compatible scanning method")
5. If your card is stable at 530/550MHz you can flash it further with X850XT BIOS but probably your fan will stop after that (you have to rollback to 16 pipe PRO BIOS).
6. If you want your card like X850XT or X850XT PE (it is probably too much because of the 2.0ns memory or it should be reached with voltmod of the memory) you need ATI Silencer 5 rev.2 (I am recommending it because it is effective, silent and exhausts the hot air out of the case and the fan will work with XT or XT PE BIOSes). Of coures you have to reinstall the drivers after every BIOS flash with the utility bacause you will have "new" hardware after the flash.

Please report the max. core / memory and the temperatures under load.

It consumes app. 25% more power and it is normal. Definitely you have R430 and that is quite normal overclock for it. Use it hard and don't regret for buying it :D .

Yes there is no additional power connector but it isn't necessary. Your core is R430 and 433MHz is OK for it. But your memory seems to be 1.6ns which is 600MHz and probably you need some voltmod to reach them ;) .

For start sorry for my english
To start I flash my graphicard with bios modified and when i restart the system it gave to image but last a little went low the e has one another problem did not make backup of the bios original :banghead: . Already I tried to flash with other bios with atiflash and flashrom and does not work. Somebody helps please :respect:

I see your headline conflicts with your main body of post...It is unlockable to 16 pipes?
That means i can unlock to 16 or no? lol.... i'm no locksmith u know? haha.
Seriously so i just follow your instructions below? and i'll be o.k?
No new hsf for video card? And should i overclock it before, or after i try unlocking the 4 extra pipes?

Ok I'm a bit of a panick here lol. I have just purchased an x800gto agp card from newegg its a sapphire. Im running the latest omega drivers and As i was browsing the thread (gaining the guts to possibly attempt an unlock of my pipes) I dabbled with the max overclock in my atitray. Noticed the heat jumping on my stock cooler of course and stopped it, however when i hit the default clock and mem button it set it at 472 gpu and 446 mem? it shows the bios gpu at 475 and bios mem at 450 so i manually set it to gpu core speed 400 and mem at 490. Can anyone verify my speeds are set to stock correctly now? id hate to have set it lower by accident lol. Secondly My atitool info shows my

For now would like to make sure my speeds are stock, my card is agp x800gto red pcb gddr3 256bit 256mb from sapphire as of now my clock speed is 400 with my mem running at 490 whjich reads as 980mhz effective. thanks in advance for your help

anyway ,i have a palit daytona X800GTO with r480 ,it reaches 560 mhz but i don't have a good enough cooler , and the card is heating up from the gpu and the memo will not go further than 817mhz (its DDR1 Hynix and ??ns ,,:D) but at stock gpu speed (400mhz) ,the memo goes at 900mhz without any problem !! ,so what kind of cooler do you recomend ,and I'm on a low bugget ,so a cheap one pls :P thanks !!
