STUPID Windows Live Hotmail

PROBLEM:
Microsoft Outlook Express has stopped working / is not working with hotmail. Yesterday it was working. Today it is not.

I've been using hotmail/outlook express for the last 6 years or so. (And without any problems). BUT today, without my knowledge, MS has upgraded *downgraded?* my hotmail accounts to the new Windows Live Hotmail, which DOES NOT WORK with outlook express.

ALL MY EMAILS ARE STUCK. :banghead: RETARDS! This is my business mail too!

That blows man. I hate the whole "Live" thing. I bought Gears for PC, a Windows Live PC Game, and I'm pretty sure it's the "Live" part of it that crashes the hell out of it. I'm going to see if I can get Fry's to give me my money back, and it seems the game just won't work with my machine.

Here's how I see Microsoft and us:

Right when Microsoft announces something new, we go "Huh?" and then we get a swift kick in the nuts as Microsoft celebrates its new innovation.

To make "outlook express work", upgrade to MS Live Mail. Which ONLY works with XPSP2 and Vista. If you have 2000, or W2K3, you are S-C-R-E-W-E-D.

I HATE this. Absolutlely no notice. But then again, if a company is going to screw you big time... they aint going to tell you up front are they?

Things really were a lot better when Bill Gates was running the company. Balmer should be nutkicked. A thousand times. Each.

No notice? HAHAH, dude, it's been public knowledge for over a year. They've been telling people that eventually you will be forced to move to Live Hotmail.

Also, Windows Live Mail is FAR FAR FAR superior to Outlook Express, but then, Live Mail is REPLACING Outlook Express because OE sucks.

It's much easier to set up Live Mail too.

Oh, and it does work on W2k3, PM if you want the install file, they still don't have the "unified install package" working on server OSs, or XP x64.

No, there's one thing which is they are going to move over to Live Hotmail. But here is SOMETHING ELSE, which is, from one day to the next, it STOPS working! And no email saying, "tomorrow your email wont work". WTF

SOLUTION

OK, after 3 hours of business downtown, we now have a solution. I hope the tips below might help anyone else in a similar situation. The problem is with MS own security... and having MOVED the mail servers from hotmail.com to live.com.

1./ Update the PC with the latest security patches (Windows Update)

2./ REBOOT

3./ GOTO IE Tools > Internet Options > Security > Trusted Sites > Sites...
Now type in

http://www.hotmail.com
http://www.live.com (
http://www.msn.com
(uncheck "require server verification https" if necessary)

4./ GOTO IE Tools > Internet Options > Privacy > Sites
Now type in

hotmail.com (and ALLOW)
live.com (and ALLOW)
msn.com (and ALLOW)

If you are on-the-road and dont have access to Windows Update, then good luck! :eek:

+1 TB is a really good email program.

BTW, I dont think that Live sucks.
