So what's better/A higher shader clock or Core clock?

From my experiences if have to say core clock has most effect on anything

true, but one of the main reasons the 2900 failed was due to a low and locked shader clock.

I'd say balance out each as high as you can go with both oced.

G80/G92 lives and breathes from shader domain throughput.

3DMark06 loves a high clocked GPU!:)

Shader clocks are the most important but it's a balancing act, I prefer to link the 2 where possible but as an example, if you dropped your max core overclock by 20mhz with the shaders unlinked so they stayed at the same speed as they did with your max core overclock......and then if you can get 40mhz extra out of the shader clock then you will be marginally faster, I think around the 35mhz is the break even point if that makes any kind of sense?

both shader clock and core.

Remember if the shader is to high but the core is to low your rops and TMU;s are holding you back, while your shaders are days ahead of them

I think we all know that you should turn both of them up:)

That has gotta be one of the most comprehensive graph ever made that accurately depicts the relations of ROPs 'n' SPs.

+1 on that

+1 again, my 8600GT's picked up a massive performance boost from ~1200 shaders up to 1700
