Well first it was ATI i was all for them...then i went to the darkside nvidia and now im going intel.....but i have a couple questions...im having some trouble im tading my system in my specs (just the mobo and proc) for a sngle core P4 775 and an old school 775 mobo....but of course my GF is getting me another 9600GT and that measn sli...so i had some questions....im buying a proc from someone here and of course the mobo im trading for doesnt support core2...but to get my foot in the door im willing to downgrade for a couple weeks...my question is....im looking at this cheap mobo just so i can get off of the netburst as fast as possible and seeing as ill need sli this looks good....but ill be getting the mobo b4 the proc...which means i have a question about fsb.....http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130082R this supports high fsb...1066 to 1333 but the P4 is 533 or 800 if im not mistaken...now am i gonna run into compatability issues their is nothing i fear more in a arch cahnge(amd>intel) than a cold boot. and since that is compatable with core 2 i know it will work but it says PD/celeron does that mean my P4 wont work?

That's actually a really good deal, pending the motherboard being in good shape since its open box. I would suggest the ASUS 650i though if you want that motherboard, also looks like it may have better compatabilty with the P4 that you have now. Not 100% sure how the FSB would work though. Here's the link to the ASUS board, it is a bit more expensive though, and not sure if it is worth it to you. I just bought a new one myself. :rockout:

Sneekypeet has the correct answer it looks like. I still would do the ASUS, but that is a pretty killer deal on that board you are currently looking at!

Yeah. Thats always the debate with open box. So cheap, but don't come with squat and you have the risk of them breaking soon. :(

Heya Sol! Wanna cheap board for SLi that supports most C2d's? Look on ebay for an Asus P5NSLI. They are going used with all accessories for about $70 shipped.

you should get a 750i, they have PCI-E 2.0 and do 45nm quads I think.

Shadow, the only 750i chipset based board that comes to mind is the Asus P5N-D. That board retails for around $180, he is looking for a low cost solution but bearing a decent brand name.
