just wondering why a game designed around dx10 recognized vista as NT, or if I just don't know what I'm talking about. I thought NT was like ME.

ME had two letters to the word it defined MistakE. :D
NT is the basis for many windows releases beyond 2000 iirc, and has been the basic layout for many years. I wouldn't worry too much about it.

cause everything from windows 2000 and up is all built on NT. though windows 7 is suppossed to use kernals that aren't from NT

well NT Kernal 6 is Vista much the way NT Kernal 5.1 is XP and Kernal 5 is 2000.
Though the next windows codename vienna will use a new kernal built from the ground up, and remove most of the 9x compatibilty layer if not all of it, will no longer support fat based filesystems, will only allow use of NTFS v5 or newer, 2000+ pretty much and WinFS or windows File system. Its a whole new ball game, though listening to demands a revised cmd prompt should be included to allow similar function to console in linux, but thats just speculation right now. When the builds go beta ill let yall know more

Everyting from Windows 3.1 up to Windows 7 will be classed as NT. It's the architecture they're all built on.

no they are not, windows 3.1 is built on the Windows 3 KErnal, Windows 95-Me are on the 9x Kernal, Windows Nt systems use the NT kernal and kernal version is based on OS. NT 3.1 used NT Kernal 3.0, simply to keep names straight MS says and NT is a direct decdent of the OS/2 Kernal

There is no single product called "Windows NT", NT is a line of products, NT 4.0 was called NT4, NT 3.51 was called NT 3.51 and before that the same. After that NT 5.0 is Windows 2000 indeed and XP is NT 5.1.
As for the letters, I believe there were 3 lines of Windows back in those days. CE for mobile, ME for home users and NT for commercial use. Together forming CEMENT, referring to the stiffness they show at certain points :)

No, Windows and Windows for Workgroups up to 3.11 are not NT based. Nor are 95, 98 and ME.

I have to do something during IT lessons. Wikipedia just happens to be the only thing we can actually get on at school.
