Ya I would get a psu with at least 18 amps on 12volt for that card,
make sure your stable and clear or heat.

I would say yes, but that 7800GS is going to eat up too much power.
250+ Watts

That would be a maybe yes maybe no build. If you used a 7600 or 8600 than no prob.
I built a comp for Nvidia that used a 235 watt ps (PC Power & Cooling 235) I used a Celeron with a Asus P5N E SLI mobo, a pair of 8600GTs in SLI, 2 laptop Hdds in Raid0 and water cooling.
Considering the quality of your PS I would lean more towards no...

Well for reference...I ran a P4 2.6 @ 3.2Ghz, 2gb pc3200, X800XT PE @ 550/600, two hard drives, dvd burner, tv tuner card, card reader and front panel LCD display on a 200W w/ 10A on the 12V rail.
Went hard for 3 years until the northbridge heatsink snapped off and the northbridge fried :(.

China Greatwall Computer Co.
Our PSUs are like the Great Wall of China to your hardware when stability is on the other side! :rockout:

If she ran stable before.....why not? 400w and you'd be more than fine....You can always check the rails after install for stability. Get ya by till you can get something else.:D

You see the FSP I linked to in the Crysis in vista thread? That would fit this build PERFECTLY, budget and power.Give you some headroom to go along with it!

its probably a genuine psu.. but 10 amps on the 12 volt rail aint enough for the cpu and a grafix card..

Out of interest, what used more power; the X800 or the 7800?

Well, if you feel as though that psu is worth saving could always recap it.

not really it would cost more to recap than to order a 200w FSP off newegg
but i just looked and its only 10A to?

ha that little bugger looks like it would even fit in the case!
i want to try the 180w with a ti4200 maybe that would work?
cause i don't think i'm going to use that MGE/powmax to power anything bigger than a toaster
