The P5KC isn't that great. Look into the Gigabty P35 DS3L, Abit IPE35 and Asus P5K-E. Don't have time to look at that case, but there are probably other options that are better.

yea youve basically got a similar build to me, the case i love. its dead cheap in price and build quality but its fine for what it does.
if your a no-cable-should-be-showing kind of person then u might get a little frustrated!
no they are no compatibility issues with hdd and dvd.
my ds3l is mint and its great bang for buck.
whats ur budget btw

Which casecom case you looking at. They are great value for money. You can see mine in my avatar (<-) :D . If your on a tight budget last thing you need is an expensive case. I'm happy with mine, its nice and small too, just the right size, fits everything perfect!!
Anybody else think it may be worth investing in a petter PSU now?? I have a 500w and wish I had invested in a better one at the time. Now i've got to replace it when I go Xfire.

and i agree with you, a cheap case is capable of doing a good job!
erm, get the 600w stealthxstream? isnt that one for xfire / sli?

I had that one, still got it here actually, lol! I knicked the side window off it, and stuck it on my new casecom. I needed the extra drive bays!!!

lol, actually a quick q, is it capable of accomodating big gfx cards (like 3870) with ease? i wanna get a 9600gt but im worried about space cos my hdd sits in line with gfx and then a 12cm fan wedged under the hdd

OP needs to use this:
http://extreme.outervision.com/psucalculatorlite.jsp
I put everything in, set usages to 100%. Then divide the Wattage rating by 0.8. For when I go crossfire I'm gonna need a 650w PSU. Which is about right, for another 3870. Have some pics of my HIS 3870 ICEq3. Not sure if an X2 would fit, but max length (depending on HDD location) is about 28cm. (PCB size)

And yeah, if its sli compatible its Xfire compatible. Just means it has at least 2x PCI-E power connectors.

600W StealthXstream will work out ok. I like the quad and I know you want to futureproof, but a nice dual (e6x50 and up) will work out good also.
If you are speaking of speeds being a concern with the HDD/DVDRW, don't worry. They will work together ok.
Also, the P5KC may look good and seem good on paper with its specs, but usually hybrid boards tend not to be so great. Like others mentioned, a different board will hold you over even longer.
Guys, How much of a price difference is there between a 500GB and a 320GB hdd in the UK? Maybe look into 2 320's and running a RAID array.

You can pick up a 250Gb seagate Barracuda 7200.10 8mb cache for about £35. The one the OP is looking at is about £55. 320gb are about $45+. I was thinking it may be better to get two of these in Raid:

finally got round to finding my cam! and i hope OP find this useful if cos hes thinking of a 9600gt too.
my fan is inside wedged under the HDD as you can see and it provides superb and quiet airflow keeping inside well cool, my gfx never goes above 60 degrees C, the prob now is a card like 9600gt...will it fit in that gap??

Have you got space to move the HDD up into one of the floppy slots?

Or is your molex cable long enough to reach the bottom if you put your hard drive all the way down in the bottom bay and move you fan up a little? May even help with airflow around the video card with it being elevated a little more.

good thinking i never thought of that, probably cos my psu has some tough thick cables and i have to bend em round in that space to get rid of them but a hdd 'should' fit.
OP: hoping this helps yer out lad!

do you mean move the fan to where the fdd bays are? if u look at alexp999's pic i have the exact same side to my case so i have a fan in the middle too.

Nah basically just reverse whats in your hdd bay. Also, can you turn that hard drive around backwards?

yeah i was contemplating that, but il have to take a dremel to my case as theres a grill on the other end. the reason its in that arrangement is that the hdd is holding the fan in place very well then ive zip tied around the drive bays
