So I'm looking to grab a second 8800GTX so I can SLI, since they are dirt cheap now, and don't have much less performance than the 9800series.. So I already know I want the second GTX, but should I upgrade my PSU as well? I was looking at the Thermaltake 1200watt Modular PSU. I think it would somewhat futureproof me for upgrading? for reference to my hardware.. it's in my system specs to the left<<<<<<< would 1200watts be overkill? if so? what should I aim for? when I use the Extreme PSU calculator, it figured out to about 1010watts needed for a second gtx and all my hardware.. plus a little head room.. I'm also doing a new case. So.. primarily.. I'm looking to see if I should upgrade from my 700watt PSU..

well newegg has the gtx/thermaltake 1200 watt as a combo deal to save like $85 PLUS a ton of MIR's... it was ranging like $680 or less for both I think? I don't think that's too bad? I like thermaltake PSU's btw.. It's what I currently have..

I've had nothing but good experiences with Thermaltake, but that's just me. I think they make a fine product. Like anyother product today, it seems you either get a good one or you don't. I think you're on the right path my friend.....

Everything looks good man. You have enough head room for the future and shouldn't need to get a psu for a few years... Just make sure that after a few years Psu's do lose their spunk... But, that is a pretty good PSU and damn good price for everything!

+1 for sure! That is definately a higher end PSU. But Coldstorm, PSU's have spunk? That's kinda gross!

corsair is coming out with an HX1000. if it comes out soon enough i would get one of those, as the HX520/620 are 2 of the best modular psu's on the market.

true corsair makes a wicked psu, i would recommend waiting for that except he would be getting a pretty good deal on the stuff he picked out and thermaltake does make a solid psu
