xms2 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145177
platinum rev 2 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227139
why is it have revision 2? whats wrong with the first one? why they revise it? any reason?
which is better? I like the looks of the ocz but the fear of the heat spreader being a cheap hard plastic holds me back. Corsair looks big and juicy.
overall which is better?
question: is it ok if i install pc2-6400 when i supose to install pc2-5300?

First go to your motherboards web site and see what is compatable. I would always pick Corsair over anything else.(Just personal experience, I'm sure OCz RAM is nice too) Plus the stock timings on the corsair are a little tighter (better).

Whatever your FSB is rated at, then you should not go above that. Say if its at 1066, then don't go above that on any type of ram.
To me I don't really care for OCZ, so I'd go with Corsair.
What are your reasons for wanting to go with The two brands??
and off topic, but really wanted to say something. Erocker, 507 more posts! Then whenever your not a mod, your can become the Rocker of TPU!

I don't know about OCZ memory, never used, but now i'm owning the Corsair pair you're planning to acquire, my personal experiences with this RAM are just good as hell, sure my 790FX chipset also helped but ... i can clock that pair till 1000Mhz@4-4-4-12-15-2T or 1180@5-5-5-15-20-2T, for being TOTALLY stable i'm feeding them also with 2.3V, they've been with that voltage for more than two months and still running flawless, and of course, totally stable :)

I hope this helps you understand what to look for when you look up your mobo.

the answer to the highlighted edited question about the increased speed ram...in 99% of cases yes you can put faster ram in. the mobo may not be able to use the speed (OEM non clockable mobo's wont). Most retail mobo's will do the swap no problem.

Don't know about the Corsair, but I had (still do somewhere) the OCZ Plat. rev2 and it worked fine out of the box for me at 800Mhz 4-4-4-12 2.0vdimm. No, the heatspreaders are not plastic - think they are aluminum, but def. not plastic.
As far as why revision 2 is because revision 1 had the micron D9 chips and was much more expensive. Revision 2 uses cheaper chips (hence the cheaper price), but also dont expect much in OCing with them if thats your plan.

If you really want to go for D 9's the best bet is Crucial ram. Once you can find out what your FSB is, then we can talk maybe even Transends.

Corsair ram usually uses PROMOS IC's except in a few kits, again in certain revisions!
