that would be awesome if they did get to the 299 price point but i don't really see that happening, for a few years yet, especially with the 3850x2's about to hit, it should be interesting to see the prices of this card in the next few months
god damn $520 for a cards....damn....

they have to drop the price now, with the 3850X2 about to be released there will be no point to buy the 3870X2, unless ati starts putting those fixed gpu's in the 3870's

i have a pair of 3870 cards in crossfire.. my default is C/F disabled.. dont worry too much about not having the money for a 3870 x 2 card.. at 1680 x 1050 all my games play okay with just one card.. some play better with just one card.. about from banging out a higher 3dmark score i dont use C/F..

i first tried C/F with two 3870 cards when they first came out.. with an amd 6000+ and 790x msi mobo.. i sold one card cos i decided it was a waste of space..
oddly enough a couple of months later i bought another cheapo one for my second C/F attempt.. with my intel system it does at least produce a reasonable 3dmark score.. not much good for anything else thow.. he he he..
older games that dont need the boost work okay with C/F but certainly dont need it.. the 3dmarks work okay with C/f.. but at the resolutions i can use its not really of much practical use.. the driver/software still aint there.. which is why its disabled but there if i find a use for it..
so far i havnt.. i am glad i dont have a x 2 card thow and can at least turn the bugger off.. new release games genuinely dont work properly with it.. it takes time driver tweaks and patches before they do.. by then i have played the buggers and its too late for me..

a quick click in the CCC turns it on or off with two cards.. it might be possible to do it with a profile.. its not something i have ever used much.. the last few games i have played havnt needed it.. world in conflict.. gears of war.. assassins creed.. witcher.. conflict denied ops.. dirt.. lost planet.. all play nicely with just one 3870 card..
i dont see much changing for quite some time.. some times u feel the need for something even thow the need aint real.. he he he
i can honestly say i aint lusting after any more hardware.. boring but thats it for a while for me.. he he

Good news. I hope this comes to the Uk soon... It'll be good incentive to chuck in a Quad and an X2 for a nice boost in say October ^^

When I had two 2900 XT's I did just that. One of the games the family likes to play didn't work well with CF enabled, so I left it off unless I needed it for my games.
