I'm with you there! I bought the basic version, loved it, let my ma borrow it, now I'll never see it again! I'm waiting for the next gen version to come out. These are handy little notebooks.:)

doubt it, I think the HD space it would require would rule that out, if they did then it would not be a solid state, and that kinda ruins the purpose for it!

Dumb question from me maybe but if windows gets corrupted how will you reinstall or do a repair? I know it doesn't have a optical drive but do you get a copy of windows with the purchase other than the one preinstalled? I'm a little confused.

Im just miffed that for $100.00 more you can get a Dell Inspirion with a T2370 cpu and more ram and a hdd. 4gb isnt meant for much.

Yeah, I can see where your getting at. But for little kids, that just need something for school and so forth, its a start.. Thats the way I look at it. Cheap thing that parents won't be mad at if they break.

Theses things are great, you can upgrade the sigle memory slot to a 2gb stick on all of the Eees besides the 2g I read that version or ones with sodered dims cant have a ram upgrade!
I like now small theses are, very good for people who walk/bus to school and work.

vista hdd spare require is relative :) (google on vlite) :)
the space can be added with usb stick or SDHC cards and some models can have a SSD :) (but the speed of the actual SSD on the market don't have more that 10-15% that one usb stick (like adata PD7)

the ram modules are not sticked on the main board
early models have an independent SSD, now the 701 models have SSD 2-4GB on-bord (implemented on the mainboard)
actually the 701 series have a limit of 2 GB ram, this is from the cpu architecture and from the mainboard. also is a 32bit machine, so bye bye vista/xp on 64bit :)
