Okay, my heak sink is pretty tall and there is an inch or so between it and the fan on the side of the case.... Currently it's pulling air IN, but seeing the it's so close to the HS, I was wondering if it should pull the air out of the case instead...

Keep it pulling in, otherwise it will create pressure and your machine will collect dust.

Edit: And the noise that the competing fans wouldn't be worth it.

Deffinitely in! It feeds the cpu fan and everything around it cool air.

Good point! And I love the avatar of the bum from ATHF!!:toast:

okay, thx. It actually pulls in a fine white powdery dust and costs the top of the HS and all my fan's blades are coated in it too until I dust it out... I'm thinking it's because of the air ionizer though...

Is the ionizer new? Mine air cleaner will do that for a week when I put new filters in. Always have a can of compressed air or air compressor handy.:)

I have that problem too, I always thought it was from my dog or the propane heat. All I do to fix it is pull the side cover off and blow it out once a month with my grandpa's old air compressor.
If you turn the fan around though you would have way more exhaust fans than intake which would really pull that white stuff in. What I would really do is find a cheap 120mm to put in the front (if it will fit in your case it that is) and look into buying one of these.

Wouldn't a fliter impead air flow?

It would, but if the white dust becomes a problem then you might want to consider losing a couple CFM to save yourself the hassle of cleaning it all the time. If you were to upgrade your front chassis fan to a 92mm or 120mm (depending on their power of course) with a filter you probably wouldn't notice any temp differences. It's one of those give and take things. Check that guy's eBay store, he has some awesome deals on fans and fan accessories. You could probably revamp your fans for under $20. Considering if that's what you decide to do of course.

My uncle had an old beige Antec case, it could be the same model, if it is I know a few DIY tricks that he and I did to his. Any pictures?

I wonder what would happen if one was to put 1 more fan, next to the side of the other.. and both are pulling in air. Would this have a negative effect?

why does this case cooling stuff come up at least twice very week.. ??

its all been said that bloody often everyone should know exactly how it works.. i know but trying to explain it very time it comes up gets boring..

one thing is clear tooo many contradictory "opinions" from people who have little idea of what they are talking about produces bugger all except forum traffic and misinformation..

everybody has an oppinion and everybody is entitled to express it.. every bodies opinion is of equal value including the village idiots.. free speech and democracy at work hey.. he he he he

Seriously, if you don't like explaining it every time, then don't. Nobody makes you, nobody even makes you read the thread.

Sorry if I'm taking what you're saying the wrong way, but just because I'm trying to help someone doesn't make me a "village idiot"

did i say it did.. ??

but in truth i have (mostly) stopped helping even thow i like to and often can because of too many contradictory opinions and the obvious conclusion that even the best help is wasted.. if it wasnt the same questions wouldnt get asked over and over again twice weekly..

sad really cos the knowledge is all there and the answers.. they just get lost in all the dross.. when all have opinions and all opinions are equal all opinions are equally worthless.. not really much point in expressing em..

its nobodies fault just the way it is.. :)

keep it intake, you always want a positive pressure in your case.
