Well I've been lurking on these forums for quite a while and have found them very helpful, and have just now decided to register. Anyway I had a crappy generic 450watt PSU in my system and its finally dying, and needs to be replaced :cry:. I figure while I'm at it I might as well get a new case as well since my current one is busted to hell and back. Now the budget I'm looking at is around $70 for both. Any advice or recommendations are greatly appreciated. Thanks again :).

$70 for both? or $70 each?

If you are looking for $70 for both. look for an Antec Sonata III, it looks fine, and comes with a QUALITY, Antec Earthwatts 500 (~$89 if you buy alone) power supply in it. If you were aiming at $70 each, i would look for PC Power & Cooling PSUs. Silencer 470 is ~$74 and the Silencer 610 is ~$119. But heck, you get what you pay for, quality. For the case, it would really be up to you, i might not like your choice, but you might not like mine.

Please do yourself a favor and aim for a high quality power supply. High quality does not means high wattage.

That Antec case+ psu is pretty good price. I can vouch for that power supply, very stable rails.

Thank you both for your advice and quick replies. The TOTAL budget is $70. I'd like to spend more, but I'm pretty much broke right now. I can probably go up to $100 but no more than that.

Just whats listed in my system specs for now. Although I'm trying to save enough $$ to get a 8800gt, but this kind of threw a wrench in that :(.

Ooh ouch, hate to say this but you may have to play with your current case. This may cut it though:

Although before doing that look into different options. Like possibly pulling video card budget down some to maybe an 8800GS + different motherboard.

Being broke sucks ass :laugh:. But the money I WAS saving up for the vid card is now going in to getting a new PSU+case. I wish I didn't have to replace this case but its really mangled. The USB headers on the front don't work, the side panel wont go on right anymore, and its got no room to install a card reader like I've been wanting to put in :(.

Nooo I'm a big boy now :laugh:. I had a decent system before this one it was socket AM2 Athlon X2 4200+ @ 2.6 with 2 gigs of OCZ memory and a 7900gt BUT it got stolen out of my friends car so I'm left with this POS system which I was using as back up :cry::cry::cry::cry:.

@JrRacinFan
Yes $100 is the absolute HIGHEST I can go

Sucks to hear about the previous rig cause that was a nice one! Oh BTW, don't be scared of that power supply comes from a reputable company. Oh and I know the case comes with a power supply but only use it as backup if you need to.

To bad the case is OoS, Shadow. I still would recommend the ePower over the FSP. Where's that free shipping on a case coupon code when you need it.

I think I'm going to go with the epower PSU (Thnx Jr). But what do you guys think of this case? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811164108

Also I found this coupon for you for free shipping on a case so you may be able to get a better one. Take a look around!

All the cheaper cases are going to be very similar, (throw the PS in the garbage first thing so you are not tempted to use it)

Look for one that has holes in the front to let air in(instead of a solid panel, or door). Also look for a 120mm hole in back to warm air out.

Thats good :) a little hint with the tower, you can unscrew the right side(looking at the front of the case) and put your cables back there.
