12 or 16 pipes

I have a ATI x800 pro. I have joined the two terminals with conductive pen but still only 12 pipes showing in ati tool. Uninstalled drivers and reinstalled--same result. Dont wanna oc, just get 16 pipes. Anybody help a newbie with a potential flying machine!

The success rate on normal x800 PROs to get 16 pipes is very low. I am not sure but i think the newer ones don't unlock at all anymore.
If you want a 16 pipe PRO you still could sell it on ebay and get a x800 PRO VIVO.

Believe me: That "expert" is wrong. Normal PROs don't even come close to that success number.

If this were possible, would you not also need to flash a new bios to activate the disabled pipes?

Evilally is right, you must also flash the bios.

My ATI X800 Pro (non - vivo according to package) did not have the etch cut on the GPU. It did have the rage theatre chip (vivo component). I flashed the ATI XT PE bios and unlocked 16 pipes.

Added on an Arctic Silencer4 and have no trouble at XT clock speeds. Looks like I will need to do some voltmod to go beyond those clocks, but I'm in no hurry.
