I have a 250gig HD and never had a problem with corrupt files while installing WoW.
Perhaps one of the CD's are bad?
Have anyone you could borrow CD's from?

Have you tried any "tools" to check surface of the hdd, and got any reports from S.M.AR.T. feature (if available on your disk)?
I do not know the age of your disk or anything what so ever, that's the main reason for my question.
Next question is, what brand? If you have multiple harddrives, have you tried the manufact. tools for installation under your OS?
A friend of mine, his son plays WoW, and I have noticed that it's a bit "slow & choppy" from time to time. But that's about it.. 500Gb SATA disk used on a HP machine.
Good luck anyway, hope you manage to solve the issue.

Tech Freak has a good point. First thing I do if I start getting corrupted files is run WD lifeguard.

BTW, dont expect much from Blizz Tech support.
When 2.4 came out, my comp started hard locking at WoW start up. Tech support swore it had to be my comp. Even though it has over 60+ hours of stress testing and never did it before..
It stopped when they released 2.4.1 bug fix patch.... ME :slap: Blizz
Edit: I remember a bud of mine had a similar problem and it turned out to be his IDE cable. Worth a shot anyways. ;)

Ok so i just ran Prime 95 for abut an hour and it found no faults.I have also ran MEM test on my ram - no faults, i have used the seagate tools and chk disck on my hard drive - no faults. i have tried installing to an external hard drive to see if that would help and it hasnt, Has any1 got any more ideas cos i jsut dont know what to try i may go down to 1 gig ram and try each stick on there own to see if i can get WOW to install without corrupting, but im running low on ideas now.

what shape is the dvd in?

davebebbz are you able to try and install on a friend's pc? Just to check if the dvd is kosher?
Otherwise maybe check with http://www.wowwiki.com.
I find fellow gamers give better support than the game publishers.

i thought the trial client only gave you part of the game..then it downloads the rest as a big ass patch if you have a full one...

Something's wrong there, as it's not possible to uninstall that fast.
I use CCCleaner, but maybe someone else has another recommendation.

Ok, so after reading what you wrote in your other thread I can give you some additional advice.
When testing your memory. A) Always test for at least 10 hours. B) Test each stick individually. C)Test with both MemTest86 AND Orthos(Prime).
I had a similar issue come up a while back. Very much like the one you are describing. Turned out to be a bad stick of memory which took 14 hours of running Orthos to find. ;)

04-11-2008, 09:20 PM
im just trying a fresh install if this has same faults il lrun the tests like you said thanks for advice
davebebbz
04-11-2008, 10:48 PM
do you run both tests at once and the orphos is that a blend test?
davebebbz
04-11-2008, 11:41 PM
Bingo, i started prime95 running on a blend for and overnight season and it took 23 mins to find a error.
the error was
Test 5, 800000 Lucas-Lehmer iterations of M155649 using 8K FFT length.
FATAL ERROR: Rounding was 0.5, expected less than 0.4
Hardware failure detected.
can any1 put a location on what may have caused it?
Evo85
04-11-2008, 11:51 PM
Well. now we are on to something. :)
I will assume you ran the test with a single stick of memory in. If thats the case try a different stick and see if it produces any errors. If not you can be pretty sure it was the bad memory causing the problem.
If it does it with a different stick of memory, try another if you can. If not then do a another test with it set to stress the CPU. See what happens then.
A side note: WoW heavily stresses memory. And a bad stick will almost always corrupt a file when playing WoW.
