HD3870 aftermarket cooling

I'm trying to decide on an aftermarket cooler for my MSI HD3870, as the stock fan is driving me nuts. What are the options available for this card? I've been using Nvidia for so long, I'm kind of out of the loop on ATI coolers. I know the Accelero S1 and Duo orb work, but what others?

There is a nice review of a HIS HD3870 and the mounting of a DuOrb aftermarket cooler on it over at Hardware Canucks. The temps look Great and the cooler mounts over the ram sinks without removal.

here is a good round up review http://www.tweaktown.com/articles/1369/1/page_1_introduction/index.html .It not on a 3870 in these reviews but most card are hotter running than the 3870 and will show you what these coolers can do.

If I weren't going water, I would go for either a Tt DuOrb, Zalman VF-900 or 1000.

Keep in mind, though, that the DuOrb's fans are connected with a 4-pin molex, so unless you want to tinker with wiring, no fan speed control, and more noise.

I just got my Coolink Gfxchilla yesterday from NCIX. http://www.ncixus.com/products/28504/KL-02/Coolink/ I bought it as it will take any 80mm fans. It's not expensive either. :)

Looks like it could be a winner.

Fin density looks low. Look @ the picture of the base. The heatpipes are definitely not straight. That makes me nervous. Either they're not taking care manufacturing, or they're really easy to bend.

My criticism of the XIGMATEK VD964 is that the fins are not pass thru so very little air will be getting by to cool off the ram and pcb. The heatpipes at the core looks low rent to me. It just looks to inefficient imo.

I saw one review, I think it was Xbit labs, the performance was awesome, though they had some complaints about the heatpipes being too far apart. It was a pre-release model they reviewed so I'm not too sure if anything changed, and judging by the pics on newegg they haven't. It would work well on a card with an IHS, but probablly not so much on a naked die. They really liked the Auras Fridge if you can find one and slap a 120mm fan on it.:)

Honestly, I'd go VF1000. That thing's a beast, and while expensive, if you're going high-end air, Zalman is always a good way to go.

Well, I decided on the Coolink Gfxchilla. It was $21, but $15 to ship from Canada. The only place I could find it for sale in the US was $40. Still, $36 for a good cooler is fine.
