MAN! i was reading up on the cheaper 45mn dual core CPU's from intel and the e7200 looks GREAT. at only $133, it has a 1066mhz QDR, a 9.5x multi, 3mb L2 cache, and runs 2.53ghz stock at 1.17v.

from the looks of it... this will be a great overclocker.

here's a review...

yea its already on for pre-order in uk:

tho the high multi may limit fsb OC, but for the price its seems a great bang for buck cpu

any comments?

it will be a sweet chip.. the high multiplier will make it go very nicely.. assuming intel dont find some way of stopping it.. he he

I really was considering that chip...but I don't think it's worth it at all, might as well save up another £30 and get an E8400.

(Price fluctuates a LOT on the E8400 over here, I got mine for £125)

if anyone finds one let me know. im gonna get one to play with.

Wow, that is pretty sweet.

my E8400 was 118 quid from ebuyer i think the lack of them has pushed the price to ridiculous levels, there currently 133 quid on ebuyer if theve still got stock

EXACTLY.

I was watching the prices of the E8400, and prices rocketed to nearly £200 the week before I bought mine, because so many places were out of stock, as soon as they came in to stock, the price dropped to £120, by the time I picked mine up it was £125, and was back to £180 a few weeks later.

"It was possible to reach a bus speed of 400MHz, but we had to throw some series voltage (1.5V) at the Intel Core 2 Duo E7200 to be able to reach these speeds. Now that a 400MHz bus speed was reached the overall click frequency to increase from 2.54GHz to 3.80GHz. This is a 50% overclock!"

Mine does 50% OC with stock voltage, not so impressive as E4300 :P Need to see some AIR overclocking and with a lot less voltage, might be it "only" does 3,5GHz. But this is what I set my eyes on back when the roadmap with wolfdales was released.

Still not bad that stock voltages and 3,2GHz, same as my current with realistic voltage amounts. But is that an upgrade, 33% more cache and little less heat?

edit: forgot about the price. Payed $230/145€ for my E4300, compared to that this is a bargain. But this should replace E4700 and that is priced $190/120€ here. E4300 dropped to $133 too when I bought it, but dollar was stronger then. Have to wait and see.

Not bad fit. I know myself I would rather have an e4700, 2MB cache but a higher multi (11x).

Ordered one for 110€/$172/£87 with free shipping (tietoasema.fi ends today). Hope to get a low volt overclocker, as I'm with air and low RPM fan. Will be interesting to see will it work with 9x multi without bios update, or not at all. At least ASUS got new beta bios for my mobo out to play with, as the previous half ratio bios was too unstable.

Here's a nice review of it, compared to similar products and seems to get a nice performance boost compared to E4700, might as fast stock in games as my current is OCd :)

its 9.5x multi aint it? thats good stuff, keep posted about how you get on with it. this may well be my next purchase...

Yep, 9.5x. Will keep you posted once I get it, next week most likely. Some are reporting high temps and one had big temp difference between cores, might be that IHS are still concave, but one can always lap.

Would do great in my GF's build. :)

think I'll stick with my proposed q6600 main and e2160 media pc, as these are gonna be subject to lots more price hikes being new...

I expect it to have a 4 MB L2 Cache instead. Each core 2 MB. But yea on a 9.5 Multi you should go past 3.85 GHz easily.

hi..., have anyone tested this e7200 with older chipset like 975?, if yes how much clock you can reach with 975, i plan to upgrade my e43 to e72 (low budget)...
thanks...

ShadowFold

IIRC the 975's don't do .5 mp so it will only be 9x/2.4ghz at stock

my e43 cant higher than 382 fsb, it goes unstable over 382, so i stuck in 382... (i dont know it was my aw9dmax or my e43 as limit)
is there any advantage point if i want upgrade my e43 to e72?, cause people says 45nm better than 65nm...(i hope i can reach higher oc than e43)
thanks...

Mighty fine OC on the E4300 you got there, you probably just hit it's limit. Have you tried 400x6? If that doesn't work then it would be the motherboard FSB limit. E7200 is fine for 500FSB+ with crazy cooling. Air gets 400+, I went to 421 with my P965 board.

Still haven't tried with my new mobo, but it helped me get 940MHz out of my value mem, so have more playing room now. Just soooooo many setting and different voltages that starting is hard :) (4 voltages for NB alone).

yes i have, even with lower multiplier (e.g 6) fsb cant higher than 382 (stable), i can hit 400 but unstable in windows...(even 1:1 still same result)
i am wondering if someone still using this aw9dmax board, having e72 and trying oc it, what the result..., cause my limited budget and lacking hardware supplier, i cant do trial and error when buy stuff, just wait-see around-wait again-then buy...
e72 not too expensive and some people can reach 4ghz easily...
if e72 resulting poorly in aw9dmax, then ill change my plan -to upgrade my main memory-
thanks...

kingkongtol: you might also go the E5200 route. 12.5 multi and no troubles with FSB.
