I'm looking to purchase a Radeaon HD3870X2 but I'm not sure from which vendor to buy it from.

Sapphire? Like $400

HIS?Like Like $420

Diamond?Like $440

VisonTek?Like $440

Anyone have any recommendations? Thanks.

I would go with a Sapphire - I have heard nothing but good from them. i have a Powercolor, i like it greatly.

Asus has a better warranty. I rarely hear a complaint about Sapphire nowadays though.

And sapphire looks like the cheapest! more money in your wallet so you can buy your partner something to make them feel special!

Yeah I know of PowerColor and Asus, its just that I can't find them on Newegg. Well Asus is on there but its sold out. Sooo those are my choices. Not sure which ones to get.

Thanks for the replys though, keep'em coming.

Cheapest.
They're all the same. Though, I would wait for RV770, it will kick RV670 a$$

ok, I just heard that the RMA service for Sapphire is bad. Oh well.

the rma's from sapphire cost 25$ which is probabaly why you heard that. instead of putting that cost into the price, they have you pay it only if you need it, some like it, others don't.

but really BUY THEM ALL!! cmon ati needs the money. jk.

Why, it performs well? Do yall think any certain brand overclocks better?

Sticker cards, unless they have a different cooler on them.

Go for the cheap. All the reference cards are the same anyway. I would buy them all if I already didn't have 2 :p

Another vote for Sapphire. They are the cheapest, yes, but they also make good quality products.

Sapphire FTW!!

i've seen a few of them used for less then $400. there is one on ebay WITH an EK waterblock for $390. that's a steal if you ask me.

his are good cards but there RMA process is crazy, I'm in the middle of one right now, So I know from first hand experience, and you have to pay shipping to get yours to them and to the the rebuilt one to you, saphire is the way to go at least they are in the us! HIS is in China, but they have someone who represents them in the us but the representitive seems like they know nothing about video cards at all!

that reminds me.... i've been waiting 7 weeks now to recieve my visiontek 3870 back from RMA and this in the 3rd week now they have promised it would be sent out "on friday".

bottom line.... visiontek's RMA process sucks.

they dont even have an official rma process either.

I'd go for one with a lifetime Warranty like the sapphire.

Man, I was hoping to make the choice easier lol, not harder for me. uhggg. Lets see now, I have people telling me to go for the Sapphire and HIS. I guess that limits it for me. No VisionTek or Diamond. Well if I'm going to get it, I might just get the Sapphire. I might even buy from that guy, and Tri Fire. Well the thread will be useful until tomorrow, so if anyone has any last final thoughts about which Brand to use, please step up and post. Thanks.

CrossFire Of course.

The Sapphire Toxic's?

Worth it or should I stick with the Sapphire X2?

i say sapphire i own a sapphire card and i love it, no problems from any of their products, also its the cheapest

i personally would stick with the x2 but if your looking to save some cash i would go for the cheapest 3870 and find an after market cooler for it

Yes yes yes, but what about the post above the one above this one? I have finally decided on a brand lol, but Know should I get the Two GDDR4 or the one X2 GDDR3???

ShadowFold

Honestly. I would grab two HD 3870's. UNLESS you get the 3870's for cheaper via http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102719 or http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127315 .

Ahhhh!! What to do, What to do. I need more opinions, I must meditate to find what I must really get...

Really though? Would Two different Cards be better then the single. I see in some beanch marks that the X2 get higher Frame Rates but only slightly.

Will the HD3870 Overclock as well, how high of OC do they typically get, I know the X2 is expected to get 880, is the HD3870 the same?

das müffin mann
04-12-2008, 04:58 AM
well think of it this way with the one x2 you wont have to worry about any crossfire problems and such, and it will use less power than two 3870's and im unsure if your current psu could handle it, although the 4000 series is right around the corner

ShadowFold
04-12-2008, 04:58 AM
Keep in mind the drivers for the X2 are still being perfected and same so for the 3870. I would wait for the GDDR4 X2's if you can wait tho. If not then grab a single X2, its easier to crossfire later with open slots :)

das müffin mann
04-12-2008, 04:59 AM
idk if the ddr4 version will be worth it you shouldn't really see to much of a performance increase

AphexDreamer
04-12-2008, 05:03 AM
Ok, so it still seems like the X2 is the likely candidate, plus when they become cheaper it will become an easy upgrade for me and the next thing you know I have quad fire. Sweet ok guys. again until I actually buy it (I'll let this thread know) I am open to ideas. Thanks again.

Definitely go with an X2...You open yourself up to quadfire+ later on if need be, less cable management, and fewer occupied pci slots. Performance difference between 2 X 3870’s and a 3870X2 is negligible.

ASUS or HIS would be my recommendation. If you want to overclock and price doesn't matter...go with the ASUS TOP 3870X2.

By the way, anybody know where they can be found?

04-13-2008, 04:41 PM
Well I bought the Sapphire X2, hope it doesn't disapoint me. It better overclock or eles!!

Buy it from Sapphire, Aphex.

Please shed the contention (if any) that just because Sapphire is cheaper, other vendors are better. Sapphire sell cheaper for a reason, being that they work closely with ATI for designing the cards from scratch, they hold greater output. So I'd pick Sapphire for being cheaper (while not compromising on anything at all).

append: oh shi- why don't I read the whole thread before posting replies? Good choice, bro.

Ah, thanks for the extra reassurence in my purchase. The only thing I have had from Sapphire is my Pro, and with that I regret nothing, I expect as much with my X2. Thanks again everyone.
