BUT he had a low of 15.XX FPS which IMO defeats the purpose. Had his lowest score been within the ball park of a few FPS it would have been impressive indeed. However, if you look at the video you can clearly see were the benchmark slows down and it's not as smooth as it should be. It was like driving at the top end of 3rd gear then all of a sudden you get shift shocked in 1st gear.

IMO, DX10 Very High is nothing impressive. Performance takes a huge hit and level of detail (LOD) doesn't increase significantly. You can get much better LOD and fps by using custom configured CVAR-files:
Here (http://www.helsinki.fi/~llounent/crysis_comparison.html)'s a crude comparison I put together to demonstrate how custom configs affect level of detail and image quality:
1. DX9 all on "High"
2. DX10 all on "High"
3. DX10 all on "Very High"
4. DX9 all on "High" with Taowolf's custom autoexec.cfg and CVAR folder (single player only)
5. DX9 all on "High" with Taowolf's custom autoexec.cfg (punkbuster compliant)
edit:
DX10 "Very High" vs custom config (http://www.helsinki.fi/~llounent/crysis_comparison_dx10_vs_cc.html) is especially interesting...

Just move it out of the folder to the desktop and try to run again.

Crysis 1.2 with all default configuration files.
With my CrossFire setup, I get 53FPS in Medium at 1680x1050 and 33FPS in HIGH at 1680x1050. DX9, I'm running WinXP64. I may not be running at 3.4+GHz but look at the result. Not bad for a Phenom 9600 and a single 3870. :)

It seems my DX9 High setting result (http://forums.techpowerup.com/showpost.php?p=753605&postcount=47) is misplaced in the list of DX10 High results in 1st post.
Also, marsey99's DX10 Very High result (http://forums.techpowerup.com/showpost.php?p=753631&postcount=49) is not 1280x1024 so no point in listing it as if it was comparable to other results.
Btw, what configs were used for the listed DX9 Very High results?

An excellent point! Mine were stock install configs. Anything less would be pointless to compare as anyone could tweak a "High" config to use only "Low" settings.

Setting "Very High" when DX9 is selected in the bench app the bench is run usin "High" setting.
That is, unless additional .cfg file / CVARs are used.
So I don't get it why people's score with DX9 "Very High" are so low...

That is the rub. The CVARs had to have been tweaked to read "4" on some items in order for "Very High" to be an option in DX9.
Hardly considered "stock" and completely random for comparison purposes UNLESS someone posted a "Very High" tweaked config that everyone would use. But this isn't realistic, we should just go on honor and stock configs. A stock config could be posted so that everyone who had deleted/modified their original could run a standardized test.

Here is mine, using High settings Dx9 on XP SP3 32bit.

Now I did the tweak to get very high "dx10" settings, here's the result:

What a difference - the first test had average fps of 45 and now this one's 28.5! A difference of 16.5 fps! :wtf:
