Hey all figured I would start a thread asking people what they think is the best new game game out there is. I would have to say F.E.A.R. has my vote. It is a great game with awesome graphics and gameplay (and thats just based on the demo). Can't wait till Oct. 19th to get it. Does anyone have any other new games out there that they think are worthy of being the best?

Has anyone seen or play the Quake 4 demo?
I am not a big fan of quake, but maybe it could be good.
I am really hoping to see another Legacy of Kain game out there, but I think the series is done.

Quake 4 or Need For Speed Most Wanted is what I'll be getting in the next couple of days.

F.E.A.R. looks sweet but ain't really my type of game so doubt it'll be added to my collection.
Just got Jetfighter 2015 which is looking like a load of fun.
My next purchase? Pro Evolution Soccer 5. Big fan of the series now it's on PC. Got 3 and 4. Wanna see if my little Microsoft Sidewinder Gamepad can take another installment. It's doing well so far! Tough little cookie. IMHO it's the best gamepad on any format. Just so damn simple.

I just got black and white 2, ill report on it later :toast:
I got Brothers in arms "Earned in Blood" when it came out on oct 5, after the first one brothers in arms "Road to hill 30" I had to get it. if you like ww2 games this one's awsome in my opinion. Gearbox software has done thier homework on this one, using actual characters and events from the 502 airborne infantry they have made the scenes just like they were in the 40's. They have fixed alot of things people wanted to see in the first one as well including the latest physics engine to date, according to gearbox software anyways.

Black and white 2 is.... pretty cool but its kind of clunky gameplay-wise.

I had a question about an older game.
I used to play counter-strike before steam.
Now that steam is out I know I need to download that, but can you get CS still for free or do you have to pay for it?

You can still play Counter Strike 1.5 for free, but not through steam. You also need to install Half Life off the cd then download cs 1.5

Is it worth getting the new counter-strike or just going with the free one then?
The Steam version of Counter-Strike is ten times better than the previous crap. I've never been a fan of CS since it always had REALLY inaccurate aiming, but now that Steam CS is out I like it! Now you can aim for someone square in the face and not hit the wall a meter next to him. I've also heard that the die-hard CS fans are now unhappy because they say the aiming's off. Go figure... Not much skill involved after all.. ;)
well a real bullet actually dips down past the centerline of the barrel quite a bit before it comes back up to center then up over the center line and then levels off fairly straight but takes quite a distance for it all to take place. But I know what you guys mean about the aiming so many game designers are trying to get this kind of physics into things like different bullets loaded with different powder grains and ratios, different tips with different weights, and then are trying to simulate wind ect.. so Lol I feel what you are saying you are aiming with maby 10 yards between them and miss? yeah right. I didnt care for the aiming in both of those versions but didnt mind the overall game anyway. Just my two cents. MD.

Get counter strike source, its much better than 1.6 (steam version)/1.5 and the graphics are at least 20 times better. You have a nice computer for it too :)
You can buy CS:S seperate from HL2 now, its $20. Just download steam and check out the game store.
http://www.steampowered.com/
Its in the single player section of the store.

I got a free 2 disc copy of CS "Condition Zero" with a Video Card.
How is it?
What kind of device do I need to play best?
Also bought the Doom3......what's best device?
(contoller / mouse / joystick)
Still using a CRT monitor, how much will that effect playability?

Just use a mouse/keyboard. CRT's are better than most LCD's up into the 250$+ range.

Hmm, since this thread is about best game, i´d say that Killzone looks like nothing i´ve seen before. Too bad i cant see the game with my own eyes, cuz ps3 aint out there yet, but the videos are awesome. My mouth was drewling after the trailer was over.

I just got fear directors edition, the graphics are good and some of the settings in there take alot of balls to run,but I am not to impressed with it but I think it is still one of the better games out there. Some people are crazy about it, there is just somthing spooky about little girls walking down a dark hallway in lol.

I enjoy freespace 2. It's a good break from the FPS and RTS genres which seem to be dominating right now.

If you like FS2 you'll like X2 the Threat and a new one coming out X3 ..
X2 was just so tiresome to play. To get your own solar plant or anything it take almost 24 hours of play to get it up and running, and then you're still losing money. And the systems look just a tad too similar. ;)

I played X2 for about an hour and got sooo bored with it.
Dont get me wrong it had great graphics and decent play, but it just wasnt fun.
I would prefer FarCry, CounterStrike, and FEAR lately.
I just played B&W2. It has pretty graphics but if you decide to play good it's a bit boring. I mean, build a massive city and then win by impressing the other cities to death. ;) The evil way of invading the city to take it over is alot more fun although you still don't have that much control over your units. The interface is really laggy as your hand isn't that responsive. But other than that it's not a bad game. ;)

:ohwell: I was thinking, why so many people think that cs1.6 is the best game ever...My guess is that their coputers cant run anything else
A good game dosnt have to run crazy graphics to be a good game it just has to have good structure, good story, and play level that suites the player, and is fun to him or her. And if you are still running that 9550 then i'm sure there is alot you cant run very well either.

I played CSS on my 9550 all the time, it ran perfectly. My uncle's comp is a 1.3 ghz athlon and a Geforce 2 MX (nothing overclocked at all), and he plays at low settings and it runs perfect and still looks much better than cs 1.6
Gaming leagues, and people who refuse to move on are just afraid of a new platform. Its easier to aim now that things have shape and smooth animations, not blocks that jerk around.
I do agree however that most new games focus way too much on the graphics, on commercials for Doom 3 for xbox, they had a little caption "in-game footage" This pissed me off. Lately other commercials for games have been doing the same thing, and when the shitfest that is the Xbox360 comes out, I bet every commercial has footage that has a "in-game" caption. Xbox's hardware is powerful enough already to realize any gaming concept, maybe not with high definition textures and antialising, but still great games. Graphics dont make a game.
You can put a crackwhore in a dress, but its still a crackwhore.

Hahaha good one wazzledoodle.
Anyways, CS is just really fun.
But dont get me wrong it isnt the best game out there. There are a lot of games that are just as good if not better.
But it does keep me entertained as well as many others.
The other up side on CS is that unlike most new online games now like WOW, you dont have to pay a monthly fee which is another important aspect.

Lol sorry I didnt mean to knock peoples 9550 's hehe My back up card and long time friend was a 9600 xt till a few months ago. I just didnt like the coment that people dont have the setup's to run anything else.cash is hard to come by for some people, I still play rainbow 6 raven shield/athena sword and just like the play in the game. But I still could even play thing's decent with my old pentium 3.

Well, i had this Celeron 1.3, 128 mb of ram and a 8mb Trident3d(integr.):rockout:
I was a hardcore cs player. When i moved to my new comp. CS1.6 just wasnt fun at all, I now play BF2 and F.E.A.R wich in my oppinion are the best games out there. But i do play cs, occasionaly, like when we are having lan-parties, we just play a few games for the old times sake:rolleyes:
Lol I like F.E.A.R. too I wish I could blow that little girls head off she keeps freaking me out. with her ball of fire and stuff.

Q4
Fear
FEAR was a very good game. Just completed it. Nice story although you'd have to play it twice to fully grasp some finer detail which ultimately makes the story plausable. But even though the enemies are similar, they're still fun to kill though! ;)
Getting Quake4 in a day or two, will be commenting on that as soon as I get it. :D

:( zAAm, dont bother with that q4, finished it, the storyline was like one of those bacground action movies, crap, but the levels were quite freaky, not scary but freaky.

The Red Orchestra mod for UT2004. Great levels and having to use iron sites to aim adds a whole new feel to FPS.

I gotta say that I cant wait to get Call of Duty 2 in the mail. XFX was giving them away for free if you bought a XFX GeForce 7800GT.
Quake4 was a pretty good game! It ran better than Doom3 which immediately improved the gameplay. Also, it's actually a very long game! And I love the strogg sequence. ;)
