what bugs me is no "sample" reviews ever mentioned the 55nm process they mention 65nm in the TC Link, 55nm is kinda something that goes on the first paragraph or page.

tis a waste ... nvidia is just juggling numbers and strapping them on the same cores ... its not funny anymore.

its like going to the show and seeing 10 different types of milk 2%,3%,100%,110% and all of them end up tasting the same? what is it all for in the end?

just a big numbers game and spending spree for nothing.

Well if your are still using that 7900gs..... now is a good time to buy. :)

The 9600gt would be a good upgrade for very little money! :D

Their doing it to occupy every single area on the spectrum of vcs. You name a price, they have a relatively new card you can get for that. I like it actually, it allows one to really decide how much their willing to pay for performance on a continuous scale, rather than interval.......

I wonder if all this speculation about these new cards is intentional, perhaps nvidia trying to get a feel for when ati is releasing 4xxx.

This is starting to get as stupid as hell. Just a 55nm 8800gt - how lazy is Nvidia getting. They should have skipped the 9800 series altogether. Give us a g94 chip with 128 sp's already & stop reburning a burned up chip.

farlex85
04-14-2008, 07:28 AM
They're not really being lazy, they're just competing. New chips sell better than old ones, even if they are a rehash. Ati would probably do well to do some of the same. The 3850 looks less appealing when there are 3 or 4 equally priced and newer chips from the competing company. Its a pretty solid strategy.

And until they have a reason to put 128 sps on a 55nm gpu (as in whenever ati makes a card that can do something similar in performance), they probably wont.

well it certainly wont "shaft" any 9800GTX owners, especially with the price of a GTX atm.

if its comes in for a lower price than the current gt as a gt owner id be pissed.

see a 512 3850 for 130 before 20 dollar rebate and free shipping ...

Wise words. Too bad more consumers and end users don't have that same view.

Then maybe they'd quit dragging these threads down into 'woe is me' pools of cries and
whines.

Yeah, when the 8800GT's were coming out i picked up the G80 8800GTS at a really great price (~$275 and that is BFG mind you), and I have been looking at new cards for the last 3 months now, but I am fine with my GTS and until I see something really amazing from either company I'll just save my money and wait and play my games at pretty optimal settings.
