Hey everyone, I won a watercooling kit at a lan party and everything was fine when I first booted it up. But then I was going to show my mom what I had done, and I forgot that I unplugged the pump. I turned it on and I wondered what I didn't hear the water flowing. But no water leaked yet. Now, everytime I turn it on its fine, but when I shut down some water drips out. No water leaks when it's off, and I noticed that the water return pipe on my CPU heatsink can be turned around, even thought I put two of the twisty tie things on it. Oh and by the way my kit is a Danger Den CPU water cooling kit. And the water only leaks at the return CPU heatsink spot. Please help. My computer is useless until I can figure this out.

Go to ace hardware, lowes any hardware store and get the metal braket ties for hoses. They are around 75 cents, no big deal.

Other than that you may have to re-tread your fittings with plumers tape if it is leaking there.

So is it coming from the block from the barbs threads or from the tubing over the barb ?

careful cowboy, better secure all joints with proper tight clips or you can risk shorting ur mobo.

If you have some of those plastic wire ties, they work well if you loop them around twice.

What kind of clamps you using now? If you're using zip ties I find its best to cinch them down with a pair of pliers ;) Did you check to make shure the hose is seated properly on the barb? As DaMulta suggested you can switch over to the metal hose clamps if you want to make shure no leaks

teah either get the metal worm drive clamps or some of the plastic watercooling tube clamps, I use both on my loop and I find the worm drives better but more of a pain in the ass.

i used to use those plastc "herbie clips" but they are a b!tch to remove, the worm drives work well if you place them correctly, much easier to service.

now im lazy so mostly zipties FTW!

I found one problem myself while doing my first liquid cooling install. One of the tubes was unscrewing the barb due to its wanting to return to its "natural" untwisted state. I removed the clamp, and using a needle nose pliers, I carefully "untwisted' the tube. In fact I went ever so slightly past that so the tubing would actually apply a very slight tightening torque to the barb. No more leak. I did all this (fortunately) before I attached everything to the motherboard and installed it in the case.

Using plastic zip ties really depends on the type and thickness of the hoses you are using. If you are using really thick rubber or vinyl hosing I would recommend something more reliable and forceful. Like those metal clamps you can pick up at Home Depot. I've had some bad experience with my old WC setup and with thick hoses and plastic zip ties.

im using plastic ties that came with it. I went to Ace Hardware and bought a metal clamp but I bought the wrong size.

No, don't use that. If it comes loose I'd hate to see what that would do inside a pump or block. It's bad enough what I've seen by people putting tape on wrong. Use the tape, and put it on right so it's on the threads, and not over the hole @ the bottom of the barb.

the tape can be tricky too, you have to wrap it so that when you tighten the barb it tightens the tape with it otherwise it will unravell the tape and youll have to sart again
