hmmm, id say they are both pretty even really....

there will be differences, especially at varying resolutions and settings....

but to answer the question, i don't think you see a significant performance increase.

but to me significant has to be 25%++

for example how upgrading to an x1950pro was from a 6800Ultra, which felt like somewhere in the order of 40-60% more fps (given the system at the time)

the 9800GTX, 8800GTS and to a lesser extent 8800GT would see decent gains over the 2900Pro. more so than the 9600GT would, but it also depends on what resolution and settings you like to game at.

well at 1600x plus some AA and AF, youll want the extra beef of the shaders an 8800/9800 has to offer i'd think, unless you can hold out for Q3 when new GPU's come out....

why don't you just flash the 2900pro to a 2900xt?? that would be a free upgrade.
