i was playing COD4 earlier and the game froze up after 10 minutes of playing so i decided to hit Ctrl+Alt+Del, and shut down the game. i then decided to play S.T.A.L.K.E.R. online for a bit and i got a similar issue after a little while, i turned down the video card clocks 665 core 1561 shader and 1000 ram, and it seems to be ok now.

well to get to the main question, when i got the issue from S.T.A.L.K.E.R. it whats the same artifacted screen from COD4 which leads me to believe the video ram is acting up, i just want to be certain that its ok, is there anyway to test it?

Running atitool, looping 3dmark, or looping some other graphics benchmark and looking for artifacts is about the only way to test a video card.

use the fuzzy box in atitool to test for artificats.

looks like teh two best are covered.

You are at the home of ATItool, so its always a good start. - loop 3dm06 nature test for a few hours, i find it shows up Vram errors very fast (you actually have to watch it, i've had too high OC's that made all sorts of crap patterns, but the program never crashed.)

And yes it has to be looped - otherwise the card cools down while it sits on that loading screen.

Hi :)
I've seen that 3DM03 stress more my card than 3DM06 :twitch:
When i can pass 3DM06 bench @ 735/1000/1836, it freezes quickly in 3DM03 ...

+1 with ATi tool bench ;)
