I have this card and I donīt like max OC it is capable of
from stock 725/800 I am able to go somwhere about 860/1050
I read the rewiev on vr-zone web and with TOP version they were able to push it to insane 973MHz on stock cooling
I am wondering if you could find/work out volt mod for GPU (ideally pencil or bios)
I heard that Random Murderer has it almost done but I have no other infos if it was a succesful try or not
http://forums.techpowerup.com/showthread.php?p=693476&highlight=%2A3650+mod#post693476
I borrowed digital camera to take some shots of this card (2560x1920)
unfortunatelly I can upload photos to FTP based storages only so I put it on my web hosting
Anybybody can download it and reupload it anywhere more suitable for you
http://skladku.hostujem.sk/eah3650/eah3650.rar
so I looked closer on some nice ICs on the card to provide some infos
http://img516.imageshack.us/img516/4189/backdr3.th.png (http://img516.imageshack.us/my.php?image=backdr3.png)http://img516.imageshack.us/img516/8168/frontwy9.th.png (http://img516.imageshack.us/my.php?image=frontwy9.png)
names of ICs are on pictures but I will write them also here
AHCI125
709C214
Un607
32B
APW7120
MJC37
APM4800
MJ74W
APM4800
MJ74W
AS324M-E1
732N69
RT9607
PS9JB0K
Atmel702
I hope you can help me to figure out which ICs are responsible for Core voltage
I have the multimeter and pencil ready for an action but I donīt know where to shade:cry:

do you have a high res camera?
jcdenton21
04-19-2008, 09:25 PM
I donīt know which resolusion you call hi res
but I have 2560x1920 camera with macro and super macro modes
tell me which part to shot and Iīll do it

on the back below the atmel702 there's a small, square ic. i want a pic of that clear enough that i can read the writing on the chip and pcb.

I did my best
I shot it multiple times for you to have more images
My hands were shaking a bit so some images are not good, but then I turned on image stabilisation so I hope it will help you
This IC is named
AA-9K
N15
One picture is modified in photoshop (added IC name)
the name added is in the same direction as the name on that IC

you mean side where GPU is?
well not today, I am bit busy
if things go OK than Tuesday afternoon Iīll do it
if somesthing unexpectable happens (school) than Wednesday
anyway thank you for your help
I really appreciate it

no problem. i'm doing a bit more research on your ic's on your card atm, so that pic would just load me down even more, lol!
EDIT: the reverse engineering is rough without actually having the card, lol.

and another update
the IC I named AHCI125 is in fact AHCT125

ok, i think i found where to shade for a voltage increase, but i'm not sure if it's for vcore or vmem; my guess is vcore.
there's no way for me to be sure either, because i haven't found a measure point. this is tough without having the card itself.

do you need more photos of anything to find out measure point?
thanks

oh, i'll probably get to it tonight or tomorrow. if not then, then this weekend.:toast:
i'm starting a new job and i'm running around like a chicken with his head cut off trying to get everything in line.

Ok thanks
and I have another question
Is the mod area be somewhere under stock cooler or not?
Because I have card on my table to have all accsess to all parts of it
and I am powered with 3dfx Voodoo3 2000 16MB PCI:rockout::toast:
Just to know if I can mount the cooler and put it into my rig or not
Thanks
I am looking forward to hearing any news

no, you can go ahead and remount the cooler.

ok, i'm fairly certain that the AA-9K IC on the back of the card is the source for the vcore... but since i can't find a damn thing about it, i can't be sure.
that being said, i believe the chips on the front of the card are for vmem. when i get a measure point, you can try this, but vmem never helped at all on my card... it actually hurt.
i think i found a measure point... but i'm not sure if the trace is even connected to anything...
i'll post pics soon.

pics...
one pic shows the resistor to shade, the other shows what i think are the measure points. one is ground and the other is voltage supply, so if you can just put the tips of your probes on those points. i know they're kinda close, but you should be able to manage.
remember to measure BEFORE any shading.
cheers.

OK I will try that soon but no ETA
is the ground needed to be exactly there?
I think that any ground in PC (for example black wire on molex connector) should do the job
If I am wrong correct me please

I tried your measure points but they seem to be wrong
I got 0.0-0.01V on first and 0.01-0.02V on the second
I have not studied electronics but very often is a leg of one of the capacitators the measure point
If you can do something more, I will be glad

i was having you put the probe directly on the v+ point for the memory, but apparently because there are no memory chips on that side, all the surrounding circuitry is missing as well...
i'll keep searching.

try this
jcdenton21
05-07-2008, 10:01 PM
tried
0V
tried to measure red pin to ground to see if multimeter is working and it gave me 5.1V which seems to be ok (how precise this crap is I donīt know, but it was pretty cheap, if I convert uor currency to USD it is something like 7 USD)
will try to get another one, but if it was measure point, it would show something
and I would like to ask you if you can point out a place where +5 or +12V should be, just to verify that I am capable of measuring voltage :D (to know if there is thick insulator paint on PCB)
Any other ideas are welcome

it's not your meter, i'm just taking shots in the dark here...
to verify you can actually measure voltage on that board, try to measure the fan's voltage using it's solder point on the main card.

great idea, that with fan
12.1V so solder points are not under conductive paint
once you have time again, give it a look

is it the same problem as ASUS 38x0 series?
propriety parts without pinouts?

yep, unfortunately.
some of the parts i could find info for, but others, such as th aa9k(which i suspect to be the core's pwm), i couldn't find a damn thing about...

another question is
Is it possible to raise Vcore via BIOS mod like hd 3850
please man

i don't know what to tell you man. sorry.
bios mod may be possible, but good luck finding a program that will raise voltage AND is compatible with a 3650.

OK thanks
and could youd do anything else for me? please
could you please circle voltage regulators on my card or other parts that need to be cooled when I add more power
I think thal all MOSFETs should be cooled.
That "black cubes" are also warm, but not burning. I donīt know exactly what it is but I think it could be coils. Capacitators are also warm (maybe heat from coils, maybe not)
What else, which chips, thanks.
Thank you for your time

Try this out. http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/Video-Tweak/ATI-Tray-Tools.shtml
EDIT: If the card support driver voltage control you will find it in the programs overclocking features.

Try this out. http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/Video-Tweak/ATI-Tray-Tools.shtml
This beta release does not work for me
it detects clocks not correcty
14/27 instead of 110/1600
when I move with sliders and click APPLY, it reboots my PC
EDIT: If the card support driver voltage control you will find it in the programs overclocking features.
I donīt know if my card supports driver voltage control, but I think it should
in previous version of ATT I can set core voltage from 0.9V to 1.25V
1.25 is the max I can set
I tried to modify BIOS but seems to be not working
RBE does not work at all.
If I change voltages and save BIOS, everything seems to be fine, but when I reopen saved bios instead of letīs say 1.25V there is ----- in the field for voltage.
I tried ComputerBase ATi Bios Editor, changed voltage for High 3D mode from 1.25 to 1.275 and then to 1.300V but I donīt have any Benchmark now to test it
I tried 3dMark 2006 with 864/2100 and it crashed (D3D device lost, no freeze, no artefacts) but it is S.T.A.L.K.E.R. stable, when I had time I played 5 hours every day without a problem
I donīt have time now to test it in S.T.A.L.K.E.R.
so I tested it in ATT benchmark but I donīt know if there is a bug or what
I donīt believe that it is so memory clock dependant
