in simple words. i think there is a problem.
symptoms: 1) low 3d mark score ~13k (used to get 12600 with one gt). 2)the 3dmark see only one gt? (see pic 1). the gpu-z see 2 gt's so the windows. (pic 2) the mb is a asus striker extreme.
any help will be welcome:)

Yeah, with 2x8800GT, you should be getting ~17k 3dmarks depending on your setup.

see if that resolution helps for you too, maybe a little overclocking or CPU upgrade?
hm ... looks like you guys were right ....
the Q6600 IS bottlenecking the SLI setup ... who would have thought that a quad core CPU would be a bottleneck !!!! crazy
anyway ... here is what I got so far:
CPU and SINGLE 8800GT at stock (both)
SM 2.0 score 4648
HDR/SM 3.0 score 4855
CPU score 3301
TOTAL - 11145
CPU and SLI 8800GT at stock (all)
SM 2.0 score 4550
HDR/SM 3.0 score 6246
CPU score 3365
TOTAL - 12373
CPU and SLI 8800GT - CPU OCied to mild overclock of 3Ghz (333*9)
SM 2.0 score 5739
HDR/SM 3.0 score 7201
CPU score 4195
TOTAL - 14959
hmm ...
Just remember that four cores are worse at gaming than a dual core, and can easily be a bottleneck of your setup. Video cards seem to scale well with a higher quad core clock speed. try it out and let me know.

i build pretty much the same pc for a friend of mine:
q6600 g0
2x 8800gt sli
2gb 1066 ddr2
asus mb with nvidia780
standard 3d mark score was pretty disappointing ~13700
cpu oc'ed to 3ghz : ~16350
so oc your cpu - it will boost your 3d mark score!

i did a low oc. asus a.i. 10% ~300mhz and i get ~14000 so thats true. i need oc:mad:
about the 3dmark that "see" only 1 8800gt? that is no problem?

from my experience thats normal that it shows just one, the important thing is that you've enabled sli in the nvidia drivers
with me 3dmark also showed just one card, but used both (tried two runs, one with sli in drivers deactivated - big difference in score)

OC it to about 3.0, maybe 3.2 if you have some aftermarket cooling, then give us some benches, I would be interested to know how this does for you.

The first part is true, the second part is not. . As a matter of fact, switching from an E8400 to this Q6600 I have gained FPS in all games. All desktop processors bottleneck modern high end video cards. A quad core would bottleneck much less than a dual core. My dual core at 4.4ghz can't keep up with my quad at 3.8ghz.

I did a first conservative run today in SLi with 8800GT's with absolutely no tweaks and cards were not pushed and got 18,600 on a dual core E8200, I had exactly the same problem on the first run with 2006 not recognising SLi......use NTune and set rendering method and you will get a dual card score.

No tweaks as in there are a lot of "secrets" to getting a good 2006 score, did another run tinight and got 19,843.....more to come! :rockout:
