hi guys...

i've bought this sparkle fx5700nu not long ago, but it keeps freezing the rig after 5-60 mins of, uh, using 3D applications ;) More accurarely, the "visual portion" dies, except the cursor, bg music keeps rolling...

i've tried reinstalling forcewares (77.77 and lower), reinstalling windows (XP SP1), VIA Hyperions (v4.55), but nothing helps... :banghead: the card itself works perfectly on two other testing systems (friends 'o mine), so i don't know if it isn't my motherboard that sucks...:shadedshu:

sys: mb - syntax sv400 (KT400)
200Watt PSU - some guys mentioned that this is most probably the flaw of the thing (i too am wondering why it keeps on going even with so much hw inside the case from time to time) - but the gfx is non-ultra (without the need of molex feed); the thing is that it is running completely fine in 2D enviroment, i've thought that it has to do something with the dynamic GPU clock override, so i disabled it in RivaTuner (and set the lower, 2D frequency), but the problem persisted...:wtf:

i'm out of luck and out of ideas... anyone else?

It's overheating... or not getting enough power..

the case is open all the time, our room temp is approx. 17 degrees celsius, so overheating doesn't seem to be viable... i'll try to get more powerful PSU, but i doubt it will be of any effect..

damn... wanted to upgrade to amd64 anyway ... :'o(

the joke is that i borrowed a 250W psu and disconnected both optical drives, and it sometimes shut itself down... good ol' 200W quality :D

but i think i'll try getting ~400W for now... and if it won't work by that time, i'm switching platfoms... muhaha :)

Just cause your room and case is cool don't mean the graphics card can't overheat.

It can be caused by poor contact, or a froze/broken fan on the GPU heatsink, among other things..

I think it's because of your power supply.

try lowering agp apearture size in the bios, if you can.

raise agp voltage if possible, try pci latancy tool,

a new psu, you can get a 400watt for next to nothing.

Raising the AGP Voltage can result in damage to your card, and it does not help in overclocking or anything.

I have my agp at 1.7v , default is 1.5v and yes my system would freeze at that voltage.
There is reason why there is a AGP voltage adjustment in the bios..........

I didn't say anything about overclocking:wtf:

Go read up about it, IT CAN damage your video card whether you believe me or not. Some cards can handle it, some can't. It's not wise to reccomend something that can damage a component.

Trust me, I know what I'm talking about.
