W1zzard needs: Fileplanet subscription?

I'm looking to check out the fileplanet open beta of age of conan.

so if you have a subscription, dont plan on playing the beta, and want to help a good cause (and get a custom forum title) post here :)

Wiz, you might want to hold off on this, or just pass it over altogether.

The AOC betas are short and considerably dismal. We just did an eighth stability test the other week and 85% of connections were timed-out or dropped entirely. Despite any marketing, the servers are not ready for a mass audience.

The files required to install the client are upwards of eight gigs (roughly), with over 25-30gigs needed for the installation itself. After that, you face potentially four gigs of data to be patched (at a terribly fluxuating rate anywhere from 30k/s to 200k/s (if that!)). Once that's all done, you run into a massive road block when trying to connet to their master server. You could let it sit there, or keep trying manually for over ten hours and still not get in to character creation.

I tell you these things because it's an extremely frustrating process, and even if you do manage to get into the game, it's got quite a bit of 'broken' issues.


AOC will be neat, but don't get your hopes up.

Alright, if you say so. I don't think it's worth someone's vileplanet subscription, though what are you offering in return? I cannot imagine you're the only TPU member interested in AOC :)..

How much are subscriptions? It's blocked here at work. I'm sure some of us members would donate a dollar or two and get enough for a sub. quickly.

But you'd have to promise to post awesome screenshots of pure AoC ownage.
