Here's my issue:
I've been playing World of Warcraft for a long time now. And since the recent 2.4 patch I've been getting the nv4_disp.dll error.
I've tried all possible things to fix this error. Uninstalling drivers, driver cleaners, re-installing drivers, cleaning my pc out for overheating issues. Tried a Service Driver on the Nvidia forums, tried running wow in opengl and swtnl modes, nothing seems to work. I can't play WoW with my card, system restore does not solve the problem, the list goes on and on.
Things I haven't done: I'm not an advanced user, I do not know how to update/modify BIOS chips. I'm afraid by that following steps, I will somehow mess up my computer worse than it already is.
What happens when opening WoW. Everything looks great when loading in, I can move around, I get a steady 40-60 FPS, not bad for a computer as old as mine, which is only 3 years old mind you, and has been running WoW great for the past 3 years. All of a sudden my computer locks up, artifacts, and distorted pixels show up everywhere, sometimes my computer shut's down immediate, sometimes it pauses for a few moments, minimizes, and gives me the error.
I've tried all sorts of different forums, for advice, and I've yet to find a solution.
I'm hoping that somebody here can give me advice, and if not, the search shall continue.
I'll be keeping an eye on these forums hoping for advice :(
