Your probably better off running your games off something like a Raptor.

Hell, for a little bit more I would go for 2 of these: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148298

My coworker has this setup in a Stripe Array(RAID 0) and when we were playing with Sony Vegas he game me a run for the money. If you want to throw your money into one drive why not wait for the 300Gb VelociRaptor. I'm thinking of selling my Raptors just so I can get one of those sweet, sexy.....Sorry about that!

There aren't any drives that do sata and have more than 7200 rpm and 150gb, and the only one that fits that bill is the raptor x (10000rpm and 150gb), so your not gonna get 500gb. The veloci raptor is supposed to be out in a couple of months, which is 300gb, and faster than the current raptor, a couple of those would be blazing at 600gb.

Unless your gonna wait for that, I would go w/ 2 of the raptor x's for your main os, but they run at $175 a pop, not exactly a bargain, but they are definately quick. Or those seagate's are solid, or a couple se16 wd 640's in raid would be super quick too (they only cost $10 more than those seagates).

check this out - theres been a lot of news flying around about the Samasung Spinpoint F1 series hard drives - they make them in various sizes but its really the 500GB+ ones which have the better performance

the 500Gb version is a lot cheaper & beats the raptor in virtually every test

highy recommend

::EDIT::

for some reason - even when magazines say a HDD is awesome the internet says something completely different...think alot of sites are bias towards the raptors Meh..... anyway - the link is there. any additional re-search you can pick up yourself
