Hi.

I need a new HD for my computer (I'm running out of free space). The main use will be for P2P and as storage, so I think the Seagate ES series should be the right choice. Which one of these do you recomend?

SEAGATE ST3500630AS
BARRACUDA 7200.10 500GB SATA-II 3.5LP 8.5MS 7200RPM 16MB 3GB/S (Not in stock at this moment) 62,8 €

SEAGATE ST3500320AS
BARRACUDA 7200.11 500GB 32MB SATA/300 8.5MS 7200RPM 62,8 €

SEAGATE ST3500630NS
BARRACUDA ES 500GB SATA-II 3.5IN 8.5MS 7200RPM 16MB 3GB/S 75,3 €

SEAGATE ST3500320NS
BARRACUDA ES 7200.2 500GB 32MB 3.5 SATA/300 7200RPM (Not in stock at this moment) 75,3 €

SEAGATE STM3500630AS
MAXTOR DIAMONDMAX 21 500GB SATA 3.5 7200RPM 16MB SATA300 59.6 €

SEAGATE STM3500320AS
MAXTOR DIAMONDMAX22 500GB SATA 3.5 7200RPM 32MB SATA300 59.6 €

Thank you!!!

Well you know heres the thing, all of them are pretty good choices and you're just using it for p2p storage for all of your legally downloaded linux distros, so i would say pick whatever the cheapest one is. (Although the ES series is the fancier series i think the SEAGATE ST3500320AS
BARRACUDA 7200.11 500GB 32MB SATA/300 8.5MS 7200RPM may be the cheapest and best option most likely but you didn't give any prices)

Yeah... I forgot to mention it: it is for my linux distros :ohwell:

So you think the 7200.11 are a better choice? they are cheaper but I thought the ES series were more secure and optimized for this purposes... The HD will be used as a backup disk, too.

I've added the prices. They are from a wholeseller when I buy the components.

By the way: Sata II 3GB/s and Sata/300 are indentical, isn't it?

Thanks for your replies! :toast:
