All right, I'm thinking of going sli. So, I'm thinking of getting a better monitor then the one I have now. Want to go wide screen and HDMI.
SO, I'm thinking of going with a 24" monitor like this one (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824009125),
My budget is $429 dollars. Thats the max! looking around $400 at tops.
So, guys what do you think? I'm not looking to buy this till Monday probably so I can get it by next weekend... Thanks for the help.

Also the one you mentioned should be fine.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824001234 <-- Samsung 245BW $436.96 + Shipping. Dunno if you could stretch it. Will be great if you could buy it.

Those are good but I'm looking for HDMI. I also have a Xbox 360 that I have hooked to my monitor now. So HDMI is a must really..

Theres not really much on newegg and over 90% of them are overbudget and 60%+ doesn't have HDMI support.

a better idea would be to get a dvi to hdmi adapter for cheap and install in on your monitor/wherever you need the conversion. hdmi monitors still aren't popular and the only benefits that hdmi brings is sound, as it uses the same video signal as dvi. im sure you'd prefer listening to both things on speakers/surround sound, etc. and not crappy onboard monitor speakers..

I have the converter because of the palit card, but I was looking to see about future proofing... that sort of thing...
As for sound.. I can just hook everything to my home theater system.. Plus my sound card is modded for all the bass I need!

Actually this morning I was thinking may be I should buy a new LCD like 22 or 24.
Here is the list.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=2010190020+1309821328+1288924671&Configurator=&Subcategory=20&description=&Ntk=&srchInDesc=
I think the cheapest is the Acer. Has good reviews too. I have 17" Acer and its awesome. I have a BenQ 19" too. It worked good for 3 yrs and lately having some issues with the power button. Heard their support is good. Also they are part of Acer. My vote is for the Acer and it has good contrast ratio, brightness and low pixel pitch.

Yeah, I've looked at that list for the last few days myself... and Acer has been shown to be the best there is for that list and price...
I'm going hdmi because hey, I can do it... Give my Xbox the picture it deserves, and try it out on my video card also. WOOT WOOT For PALIT!

Those look good. I've got an Acer 17" and can attest to their quality. If you want plenty of connections for your xbox and such, I've had my eyes on this Viewsonic for a while:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824116084
Of course, a month or so ago it was 450, so I have no idea why it is 650 now. It's 28" and has had good reviews. It would be a better gaming / tv / pc replacement than a 24", depending on what you want.

CAPS LOCK IS FUN!!!! Yea, suraswami already gave a good list of monitors, so I recommended Acer. Then I remembered that the Viewsonic 28" went down to $450 at one time, so if he could find the deal he might be willing to splurge. Everything is OK, no need to flip out.

Didn't see that a second ago. What size is it? I'm in the market for a new LCD/HDTV for the apartment. The only bad thing about the HDTV's is that pesky 1366x768 resolution, which is why I went back looking for a monitor instead. I really think Viewsonic just likes torturing consumers with their pricing. That Acer from before looks like the best pick out of the bunch. For the price it has better brightness and contrast ratio ratings.

Will this monitor work for me? (http://www.wildherps.com/species/V.varius.html) lol..
Well he had seen it at $450 at one time.. a lot of places like University book store, go on newegg and sites like that to see the pricing for things and have it kept at that price for a month for their students. Harvert does it a lot! A few months ago I could of gotten my Striker II board for 229 new... Oops on that!
But it was something I googled to see, and nothing is below $550 for that... more to look at!

yeah I looked at that KDS. But you initially wanted one with HDMI. So everyone is KDS good brand or ACER is better?

I believe the Acer is a better brand.. I've only heard of a few people saying that KDS is good.. but I haven't seen a person on here with one yet... Though I haven't loked at everyones!

I have used Acer for many years. Currently running a 20" widescreen. I really like Acer, they are very good quality for a good price. Their tech support is also very good. They have never let me down.

 Very clever, but I don't think that would be in your budget... I don't think that deal on the 28" exists anymore. I initially saw it on ZipZoomfly, but they took it down after a week or so. I've regretted not buying it since then. In this case the Acer is the best bet since you can use the HDMI for your xbox / receiver, and dvi for your computer. I used to have a KDS 17" CRT, and it never gave me any problems... but of course that was a CRT. Shoot for the Acer!

Acer monitors are very very nice. I had to work with em when i worked at circuit city a few months back. I currently own a 22" widescreen one and they are one of a kind, imo.

Well, I went and bought the Acer 24" monitor... Bad news... The back light on it was burnt from the get go... So I had to take it back, wasn't in the store at Circuit City so got my money back. I went to staples because they had a sell on a Dell 24" but when I got there I fell inlove with the one I have now.. HP w2207. I love that thing! I don't really care that its 22" because of the fact that it has HDMI, two usb ports, and speakers. So, in all I'm happy!
Thank you all for your help and next week I'll be a regular again!
