Lemme take a guess. Seasonic <-- Quite popular, well known, and makes PSU's for almost all companies and brands.

Well im getting a good job soon and one of the first things I wanna upgrade is my PSU :) Im getting a Xigmatek CPU cooler and fans so I figured I would see if their PSU's were made by a good OEM. I hope its seasonic that fan is really cool lookin on it :rockout: and its modular to boot!

its channelwell tech.. i traced the ul number on one of them a few days ago..
channelwell tech is a controversial company.. they make really good psu's.. and really terrible ones..
for example they make thermaltake toughpower psus which are really good... but they make the antec smartpower series.. which were so bad and had such a high failure rate that they went outta production and antec issued smartpower owners seasonic built neohe (im a victim of a smartpower psu and it fried my hdd

They are good right? Your guide says they make ThermalTake and the modular Corsairs but their older ones sucked. So is it a good deal for my rig?

like i said above.. they make decent psu's atm.. but their track record isn't all too well.. i think the psu might be good, as i think cwt got their shit together and can make decent psus again..
personnally.. i've had a terrible experience with 2 of their psus and will personnally stick with seasonic built psus.
in a nutshell, xigma psu's built by cwt.. cwt=shitty psus in the past, good psus now. shouldn't have a problem with the xigmatek psu...

Just curious, how do you track this stuff? It could be useful to me so I dont have to make a thread about a PSU when im shopping for one :p

Ok ok, consider it a joint effort. Same way puff puff pass is a joint effort ... :wtf:
Like pancho said, decent company with a bad rep in the past.

99% of all psu's are certified by the ul. you can tell by spoting the ul logo on the psus. a ul certified logo looks like this:
http://forums.techpowerup.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=9476&stc=1&thumb=1&d=1189700878
the arrow is pointing to the ul registration number.. psu oem's have the psus tested and certified by the ul. the ul certifies that psus as being safe, etc and wont blow up your house. you can read off the ul number and check it in the ul directory to find out who the psu is registered to. this is how you find out who made the psu.

The good news is...all xigmatek PSU are the good ones, just like the corsair expensive one and the thoughpower expensive one. Check annandtech's review, i think they listed there.
