Alright, my friend wants to jump into computers. He wants his rig to be AMD based, so please don't suggest Intel parts. He also wants it to be Spider, so I guess that leaves out Nvidia. Anyways, he is very picky, and I have picked parts that are both visually appealing as well as specs. So please if you have any suggestions about them, just keep them in "his" parameters.

This is what I have so far.

Total: $1,618.84

Of course, that is without shipping. He said his budget is $1,500, but didn't mind paying a little over (i.e. +-$150). He will be using it for gaming, and that's it. I have XP ready for him so I don't need an OS either.

Thanks in advance for any help. :toast:

If the case fit's it, and he plans on over clocking, get the Xigmatek HDT-S1283 for cooling, and the DFI Lanparty motherboard, same price as the MSI, just much better for overclocking.

DFI: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813136044

Xigmatek: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835233003

The DFI board is about $15 cheaper which can be put towards the slightly more expensive Xigmatek heatsync and come out about even.

He isn't gonna do too much overclocking, if any at all. the only reason I got him the blacky is because it has the highest stock clock. Also I was looking at the Lanparty mobo for about 20 minutes, and knew he would screw something up. Remember, my friend is somewhat new to computers, and He will probably get lost in bios...*HMMM what does this button do?* Then his house catches on fire. I think I will upgrade to the bigger Xigmatek...it's only a few extra bucks.

The Phenom 9850 BE is only 200 at Frys if you have one around you

And if your going to CF card why not just buy an HD 3870x2?
