I discovered my heatsink gave better temps (2-3 C ) lower when i manually apply pressure to it with my hand pushing it against the mobo. Sadly it comes the standard socket 775 intel clips like mechanism, i have decided that i will be finding a way to replace those clips over the weekend to some solid screwiing mechanism .

i have though of cutting off the plastic clip thingy and putting a screw and washer from behind the mobo ( with a rubber insulator to prevent contact ofc) , then bolting it down from above with a nut.

Anyone know a guide that shows how i can convert it to a better screw-on mechanism than applies more pressure? just to make things easier for me.

this was dicussed in length in another threasd ...either get hardware for a water block , or visit the local harware and buy some allthread ans nuts and nylon washers.

4- allthreads
12- nuts
8- nylon washers

look here for an idea of how-to

woowhoo, just removed the clips and used a srew set from the old thermaltake CPU block and WOW ! i shave of a further 4-5 C from my temps.

Guys, the heatsink contact to you CPU does matter alot.

PS- i hope i did not overtighten it

Yep indeed it does. (Tkpenalty rips off the TRUE's bolt thru screws)
