Hey guys, I'm looking for a suggestion for a 5.1 receiver. Mine has blown out after 4 years. I'm going to prefer a good price/performance ratio. Harmon Kardon I hear are good but I do not have much a clue as to which one to get or what to look for, other than Wats per channel.
I would like the price to be around 150-250$ if possible.
I've been browsing some speakers and I think these might be my best bet:

If you have any speakers suggestions I'll take them as well :)

$499 doesn't fit in the $150-250 price range she asked for. Did you even read her post?

and also

the denon is multi zone though. Denon are great receivers and there cheap with mulit zone.
if you can, don't go cheap on a receiver. i did and i regret it especially if you use it a lot. defiantly don't get top of the line and also, the mark up on receiver (anything from magnolia HT is ridiculous so ask for some off)

If you have a large room id recomend getting 2 sub woofers i have lol sounds great but it depends how you like your sound.

oo, alright thanks for the replies. Is there a certain spec I should look at other than watts, like DBs or something?
and, a receiver/speakers combo would sound better than a plain ol' Logitech system right? even if its not the highest quality receiver

ONKYO, SONY and TEAC. BUT it does depend on what kinda sound you like too. I find NORMALLY SONY are more open BUT a TEAC a very strong thump in your face kinda bass.
Thinking about it Kenwood did a few good ones years back dunno what there like now though.
Any were you can test some out ?..

tbh just look at reviews see what feedbacks given on sound and features and it also depends on the size of the room for a small room 250 to 300watts should be fine for larger rooms 500 to 750watts and like i said a larger room does sound great with 2 sub woofers especially if the floors hard like tiles or somthing.

Depends what ya mean by WATTS these days as a lot use the rip off PMPO and others a like. RMS is the original WATT rating.
I've had 2 speakers sounding way better than 5 speaker + setup.. A lot of speakers are made cheaper today to save costs which normally leads to needing more speakers around you.
