well after alot of hard core looking around and some reading it turns out that 4GB of ram and vista x64 is what it keeping sli from working....so im torn...i want sli but i wont sacrifice 2gb of ram so im torn....should i install xp 32 bit and run sli? or should i keep vista and wait for a fix? my mobo doesnt allow me to adjust the memory hole remap so thats out of the question so basically no sli for me until either microsoft of nvidia fix the problem. but i really REALLY want to keep vista i want the DX10 in games but i want sli so bad and iv battled with it for weeks what should i do?
hm...not an easy one...
if you install XP you'll give up 2gb since it will use up to 2gb of memory, but even though will work faster then Vista with 4gb :p
if you suspect a patch to be available anytime soon either put out 2gb or one of the cards and wait for the fix.
does the SLI work with 2gb of RAM ?
does it work with 4gb of RAM but one card only ?
I found this fix on MS site. might help.

you can also try to lower your memory speed as suggested in these forums:

neither but i thin its because i tried it first with 4gb and it screwed the registry...i guess for some ppl its hit or miss from what im reading ....it works wih ppl with 2gb of ram but only some of the time and ppl with 4gb of ram and x64 vista it never works..all the fingures point at drivers. when i install xp it shows 3gb of ram so im only loosing a gig

Dual boot.
I think an .ini somewhere can be set to limit the 32.bit install to only boot with a defined amount of memory. So you can have 4Gb installed, but windows only sees 2gb of it. See msconfig.exe, maybe u can work it out from there.

XP x64? Sees all of your RAM. no SLi problems that I've heard of. More stable than XP x86 by FAR. No where near as many compatibility issues as people make out (less than Vista x64 that's for sure).
But, no DX10 :(

i think ill elave all 4gb in as iv said xp regiognizes 3gb on my rigs and with the resolutions i play at i like as much ram being used as possible with wondows loaded and all ym various programs in stalled when i boot crysis it is not odd for my to use 1.5gb of ram and with 2 in the system and wondows behind crysis this isnt acceptable to me...but i think i will format i REZALLY dont want to but.......god damn i want to use SLI!

I dont want to start that old "its incomplete" discusion, but did you try that DX10 hack for XP? I didnt, but apparently it "half-works".

i have 2x 2gb sticks
oh ok..well never mind then
ehh i might stick out...dx10 gaming is def worth the wait in my opinion...but just curious with the number of people that have vista64,sli,and 4gb of ram you think there would be a fix for this? do u know the reason it wont work? is it just poor drivers?

it has to do with how the nvidia drivers read how windows reads the ram...which is different for different systems its technically a driver problem but since it directly links to windows both need to be fixed first. as for the problem itself i know microsoft took notice but nvidia hasnt officially announced anything these problems have happened since the 100 drivers but nvidia just keeps pumping them out so imo i think nvidia will fix it silently than tell the world their was never a problem...i decided to go xp x64 though....not sure how long it will last i miss vista already if i cant get sli to work in xp than vista it is till the drivers come out.
