first off. this is not my idea i found it on XS listed for a Gainward 9600gt. also i'm not responsible if you break anything! it worked on my card so it should work on other sonic 9600gt's

i got the mod here.

its a pretty simple mod just connect 2 very small solder pads. you will need to remove the shroud on your 9600gt to do this. while you have the shroud off is a good time to go ahead and change out the stock tim.

i soldered the wrong pads the first time i tried this. so pay very close attention to the orientation.

i'm running an open pc atm its just sitting on a box while the paint dries on my casemod. i'm loading at 46c with no shroud on 3dmark06. so with the shroud and in a chassis, i suspect temps will go to 50-55c with the fan at 100%

i also suspect 1.43 or 1.45volt would scale a bit higher on core speeds. but your temps may start climbing fast.

900core/2250shader/1100mem is gaming stable on mine, no artifacting. i can push a bit higher to bench, but i get a few artifacts.

if anyone does this post you results. i'm especially interested in seeing how high these go with 1.43 and 1.45volts.

Excellent guide ranger, and after talking with you I decided to give it a go on my setup. I have not been able to attain the awesome OC you have accomplished with yours and pass ATI Tool's Artifact Scanner, but I did attain a fairly decent OC over my already fairly decent OC, I went from 700/1750 1000(2000) stock to 810/1950 1100(2200) OC'd on stock voltage to 870/2175 1100 OC'd on vMod. Overall that's a pretty damn good OC, and compared to reference 9600GT clocks, that's a helluva OC.

I ran 3DM 06 also, first time it's been ran since I installed the Q6600. Scored pretty decently, though about the same as you scored with a higher vid OC on an OC'd dual core lol. Gotta say I'm still happy with the results...and now to test it in games! I may run some in-game benches and submit later too.
