Hey, fellows today is my anniversary of using the Windows Vista , i got really no problems, :):)except some modem drivers which was solved thru the Windows Update. But i have seen a lot of ciritizism of Vista, i am totally unable to figure out why people critize Vista , if it requires hardware, then its no problem its a matter of Intel , as they not keep pace with demand of Processor Power. So i think when Vista is released there is exxagerated ...:rockout::rockout::rockout: :o So post your reasons why you don't use Windows Vista.

Reasons I like vista:
DX10 and DX10.1
Theme is very nice
Reasons I dislike vista:
Memory hoggers
Performance lackers
Compatibility sucks with most software
And perhaps no DX11 lol

I don't have it installed - but I've used it on other computers.
My gripes: it's a massive memory hog (worse than XP, IMO); poor gaming performance; lack of audio hardware acceleration (audio is a big issue with me); Windows Genuine Advantage <== the single biggest ongoing headache I've seen come out of MS

Reasons I don't like Vista:
XP x64 is better, more stable, uses less memory, and is much less of a hassle than the x64 version of Vista (driver signing)
Reasons I like Vista:
Aero
DX10
I'm afraid that the cons outweight the Pros in my case. Waiting on Windows 7.

I'm using Vista x64, really having no issues at all...I think I had to set HDTach to XP Sp2 compatability mode...Aquamark3 doesn't run (didn't in XP 64 either iirc), aside from that it's a pretty damn good OS. It's snappy...and feels better after SP1.
I think it comes down to personal preference...really I'm not sad at the loss of 10% of frames if it's even that much anymore in games, since I run pretty quick at 1440x900 on my 19" monitor. Drivers haven't been an issue, I have 4GB of memory, so I don't mind so much if it hogs up around 1GB of it after booting up (which isn't that slow anymore either, compared to what Vista Ult x32 was for me a year ago). Overall I couldn't be happier, the OS works, gives me some DX10 that I can mess with here and there, and all my games run fast, smooth and bug free...and aside from the 2 programs I've listed, I haven't run into any other issues I can recall.
But again, some people prefer XP, which is still a good OS, and took a long time to get there, but now that it's polished it may be better for users that don't want Vista, it's features and such...maybe they want more speed for benchies? In the end, if you can, try Vista out, it shouldn't take too long to decide whether or not it's something you're interested in.

the only real thing I see that would sooner or later convert me would be DX10 - but until my hardware is at that level . . .
but, it's a tough decision for me; especially concering the audio issues with Vista.
TBH, I think for the most part, XP can be modded to be pretty damn similar to Vista in many regards - from the interface to OS security.
From my experience using Vista, though, I get the impression the OS is a whole lot more idiot-user proof than XP is; but those of us that aren't commoners and know how to pwn our OS, and not the OS pwn us, it's a bit different.
I agree though, that if given the opportunity, one should try Vista before making a decision.
no good reason at all to change to vista

ive had no problem with vista (using Home Premium 64) but i know some people have hardware and software compatibility issues with it...but none for me so far, its worked with out a problem but then again all the software and hardware i use it for where all bought within a year so no compatibility problems for me...but i also have xp on my laptop and love it as well so i really have nothing to complain about with either one...
the only problem i see is that people dont take the time to tweak it and make it better...sure the uac is annoying but it can be turned off...you can tweak vista to look just like xp if you wish, it seems to me that most people just dont take the time to actually try it out.

I've loved vista since the SP1 came out, it really fixed all of the bugs. Sure, it's a memory hog, but alot of people have to understand that you can't run a Athlon 2600+ and 512mb PC100, it just doesn't work that way.
