Here is my computer information.
Motherboard: ASUS M2R32-MVP AM2
Video card: 2x ATI 1650pro
Memory: Corsair XMS2 DDR2 800(PC2 6400)
Processor: AMD Athlon 64x2 3800+ 2.0 (not overclocked)

Just a simple question. I restarted my computer, and the mouse didn't work. This happens every once in a blue moon. I just unplug it and then plug it back in. Tonight, I did that and the computer screen went blank, but the computer is still running. I checked the motherboard, the light is green and on. The fans are all running. I tried both the video cards individually and still nothing on the screen. Anyone have any ideas as to what happened?

do you hear the post beep when you turn it on ?
if not it might be a power supply failure.

no, no beep, no nothing

Some motherboards don't have a built in speaker in which case he will never head anything

I believe this one does have a built in speaker, it did used to beep at me every time it booted.

have you tried a new power supply cable / checked the fuse in the existing one? checked all cables are pushed in & all devices are seated correctly on the motherboard?

I just replaced the power supply, and no change. Think the MB could be fried?

if all the fans etc are working, then i highly doubt it. clear CMOS as a test, it may have no effect but its a no loss situation. tried it with individual sticks of RAM or a friends video card? Your PSU could be to blame too, if you can source one of those from a friend / family member, that could help too.

try to power it up with nothing on it, only CPU.
no memory too.

if you get a long beep it's probably the motherboard. if not it can also be the motherboard.

OK, i will give those ideas a shot. I haven't tried it with no RAM or just one stick, I will try that tonight when I get home from work. What is a PSU?

I believe this one does have a built in speaker, it did used to beep at me every time it booted.

Computers using AMI BIOS usually beep upon complition of the last POST chek. The beep means that the RAM has Passed. If it no longer beeps you could have a RAM Problem.
(Most BOOT problems are RAM related anyways).

I think some Asus boards have voice post, a female talking about the error happened while posting. My Asus A7N8X-E deluxe Socket A board had that feature. Luckily I turned on that feature before I gave to my brother. One day the AGP card died and he didn't get any picture on the screen. But the voice prompt helped him. It said that the AGP card was bad. He put in a spare pci card and it works fine now. Don't know if Asus still has that feature. Best bet is to find a pci card and see if it works.
