Well, i bought my Windows XP Home Edition CD off of Newegg.com. And i here when you move the disc the ''microsoft'' at the bottom of the disc is supposed to change to ''Genuine'' but mine doesn't do that. Is it fake?BTW i installed it like last year and i have no problems besides windows loading really fast(the bars only need about three or four go arounds before it starts up). Also my taskbar takes a long time to load once windows starts.

Its not fake. If the windows boot it should be fine. Sometimes rundll32.exe may have a problem booting which causes it harder to go to desktop.

I wouldn't think its fake, coming from Newegg.
Does it activate properly?

Do you use the key printed on the CD or Package? Do you use a Key off of a text file or "keygen" to create a key to use? Do you need to enter a key?
Answering those may help to tell you whether or not it's a legit copy, if you don't have any issues with it...I wouldn't worry too much about it. What did the disc come with when you initially recieved it?

From what i recall, i used one that was on the package and not on the CD. It came in one of those brown bags with the Windows XP Home Edtion manual and the disc. I would also like to know why my taskbar loads so slow when i first boot into Windows? Also why does my Windows load faster then my bros PC are specs are about the same(but he uses ati and a different Mobo)

when windows starts up, it'll load all the programs and such that your pc has them set to start up...
decreasing the amount of crap at startup speeds up that initial loading process as well as the longterm load
thus... type msconfig in the "run" dialog, and disable everything that you dont want (make sure to keep all M$ stuff enabled)
your bro probably has more/less crap on his PC set to startup

If an OS was corrupt, I don't think you'd be booting to it, or if you did, crashes and BSOD's a-plenty.
