try changing the refresh rate for your monitor.
he already has, there's like three different viewsonic with that resolution and they all have different refresh rates

does it flicker in his bios?
that i don't know. I believe it's the refresh rate in the montior and not the os that's messing up.

might need to reset his monitors configurations or fix whatever it is in the monitor if it flickers during bios... because then it rules out the driver

my refresh rate is at 60 hertz,
the model of my viewsonic monitor is VA1912w series, 19inch at 1440 by 900 Res.
i have 3 different modes, 59 hertz, 60 hertz and 75 hertz, hope that helps

what he is saying is, if it flickers in bios then it's not a driver issue. More likely then it would be the monitor itself. Have you tried a lower resolution?
