My agp bus on my motherboard is supposed to support 8X and 8x pro, right?, well when i open cpu-z it says it's running at 4x, and the max is 8x. In my bios it only allows 1x,2x,and 4x. My Video card is an 8x enabled card, the ati radeon 9600 pro (not a cobranded one, the official ATI release.)

Any help, could this be do to an outdated bios?, should i risk making a mistake and flash bios, will I see a drastic performance increase if I do get it to run at 8X?

Oh, and what is AGP skew control, never could find anyone that knows.

Thanks for any help, Derek

What board is it?

There isn't much of a difference between AGP x4 and x8, probably no difference at all with a 9600pro card.

That is only a 4x enabled board. It doesn't have any support for 8x.

yup, trust me you have no need to worry :) as the wanker above says, there is no difference in terms of performance for your card and very little difference from about 9800pro under... :D

Wow, so it doesn'thave it, I'm going to complain to microcenter lol, cause they said it was an 8x and it had a 533mhz fsb, maybe I'll get a 10 dollar gift card :P

I don't know how they calculate that 533mhz FSB in the add, the CPU is 166mhz FSB and the motherboards max is 333MHZ FSB

I can't put this together, lol, I honestly thought i was getting a cpu with 533mhz FSB

Does anyone know if there is a pci/agp lock on it?, cause I've got it oced pretty high and I was worried about my soundcard, video card, etc.

There is no option for one in bios, although I was thinking maybe it's already locked? I mean who really needs to overclock their agp bus so why would they disable a pci/agp lock?

im afraid if the bios doesnt have a setting to Desync your AGP /PCI / FSB speeds then there all being ramped up.

as for the 533mhz fsb, it must of been a spelling mistake on their part... 533 and 333 arnt that far away visually. and the only CPU`s i ever heard of using anythingas odd as a 533 fsb were some intel cellery chips :) (i call them cellerys because they do a similar amount of thinking as a stick... )

P4 has quad pumped busses.. so a 133fsb is really 133x4= 533mhz FSB..

Intel....
