After lot of debate finally decided to keep the Quad. Too tempting to pass. Not going to play games anyway.

Put the stock crap cooler and the idle was 60C:eek:. Did twice install. Wiped it and put AS5 too. The board kept beeping and eventually shutdown.

So I put in

Quiet cooler for $25. Keeps the load temps with AS5 under 57C each core. Idle around 37C

Is this normal? The climate is extremely hot here is South CA. I think those are nice temps.

Should I buy a better cooler? Advise under $25. My favourite is

Arctic Cooling http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835185125

and CM http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103041

Frys has a sale on this Cooler Master one

My case is not big enough to fit monster coolers.

The phenom 9500 is running @ 220 * 11 @1.21V with mem at 333 and HT at auto.
Board is ECS A770m-A.

Anything higher is no go. Changed every possible setting. Board limitation or not enough cooling when raised voltage.

Thanks,

I have a Zalman CPNS 9500 which does a pretty good job keeping my 5000+BE cool at load with 1.5v running througIh it, overall I think they make some good coolers, if you can spare a few bux, might want to pick up some MX-2 TIM.

already have the MX-2. I still prefer AS5. Thanks tho.

The cooler was only $40. Is it worth the pain to pull it out and install the cooler?
